    MacBook Pro 2019 16inch A2141 no power

My Macbook, which had been working fine until two weeks ago, now has unstable power and won't turn on.

When I took it apart, I found a lot of dust, so I think that might be what caused the damage.

I checked with a USB meter and found that the voltage is 20V, and the current consumes a maximum of about 150mA, then fluctuates between 4 and 70mA.

The same thing happens when the battery is removed.

There were no short circuits in the PPBUS_G3H or NAND.

    It booted up!
The cause was one of the fans.
I found a short circuit on the PP5V_G3S.
So I removed the motherboard to look for the faulty part. Then the short circuit was gone.
The short circuit only happened when I connected one of the fans.
I pressed the power button with it disconnected, and it booted up.

Thanks for the advice, mon2 and reformatt!

What is the Voltage of ppbus_g3h?

Are you using a genuine 96w apple charger?

This model won't turn on without a working battery installed so most likely the battery has died and needs to be replaced.

The voltage of PPBUS_G3H is 12V.

The charger used was Apple's genuine 61W charger.

I tried measuring the battery voltage from the marked part in the image, and the value was 7.6mV.
(I may have measured it incorrectly.)

You must use a 96w or higher rated power adapter for this unit. A 100w unit with a 100w rated cable is even better. This adapter will then power the board and charge the battery. The battery is required with a charge to boot the board.

connect the battery like normal and test again with a 100w (at least 96w) power adapter.

Be sure the battery flex cable to right side of the large battery contacts is also connected else the motherboard will not be able to communicate with the battery. This is the smbus battery interface.

Check for corroded caps on either wing of the board near the fan inlets, and check all power rails for the NAND's (not just 2.5V) on both sides if populated. As MON2 asserted, you need a hefty charger for these models. 60W is for 13" machines.
