G'Day All
I am TC. I am electronics builder, repairer, Hobbyist & electrician. I like tinkering and learning new things. I see some of the conversions refer back to the beginning of PC's. My first PC was an IBM XT clone it had 640KB RAM, Pheonix BIOS V2.4, 8088 4.77Mhz Processor. I also bought a maths co-processor 8087 ($342 AUS) for CAD work speed, 20MB MFM harddrive 20ms access time, 2 x 51/4" Floppy drives A&B, DOS 3.2, EGA monitor 800x600 display "Wow that was high res lol" and cost me a pretty penny $3,220 AUS for the system back then. Also the old joy stick & sound card to play very simple games back then. I also learnt on CPM 86 and BDOS still the only true multi tasking 16bit operating system by digital research. It took MS till the mid early 90's to achieve the same thing with Windows NT with much more advanced & faster processors and with more memory.!
Internet has enable me to learn alot more at my own pace. And all this information is at my finger tips and access to those with knoledge great stuff. Not like the good olds you had to send away for data or books or wait companies to update their data books.
Anyway look forward to chatting will members one day.

Hello, I go by cwpjr, initials for my full name. I have a hotmail account that appends 01@hotmail or live - and an 02 and 28 appended are my gmail accounts. I have been an hw/sw integration, prototype and bring-up specialist since 1977. Additionally I did lots of contract manufacturing with Jabil and MCMS up to 2005. I am retired which give me more time to play with my collection of artifacts I never used - like ethernet/rs-232>cell gadgets.
I am a idiot savant in math therefore I do less contracting these days. I also am self trained in electronics (for working with HW people) and software.Comment

Hello!
My name is Evgeniy. I am from the Netherlands.
Currently, I have a W520 which is slowly dying. It can just freeze once in a while, and it doesn't like to be moved.
... on the other hand, it is already 13 years old, and I bought myself a refurbished P53.
I already upgraded it with 128 GB RAM, 2x 2TB NVMe and US/RU - keyboard, since it was shipped with a QWERTZ.
Now, I would like to go on with modding.
For my work / hobby, I need the laptop to have WWAN. I arranged that with the W520, and it works.
For the P53, I could obtain the 5G Lenovo card for a fair price. 4XC1D11452 . I also ordered the antenna set and the SIM-tray from eBay.
I think, I need a modified bios...
- disable whitelist for hardware, or at least enable that 4XC1D11452 card
- enable advanced menu, just in case..
- disable Intel ME, since I read and hear al these interesting things about that.
I am, of course, doing my research, and would like to do it (at least partially) myself... but if there is anybody who would like to assist for a bearable price, I would appreciate it, since I don't have that much free time to discover everything myself..
Thank you, guys!
Kind regards,
EvgeniyComment
