    Hi to all
    I'm Richard Vachon from Longueuil,QC,Canada
I'm 54 yrs old,and I'm an injure worker from working in the forestry industry.

Yesterday I got a Samsung plasma 55" for free because it went dead at my next door
neighbor,so I found this place to get some help and hopefully fix it for a fraction of the price it would cost.

I'm not a pro in TV but I can replace stuff like capacitors or relays,I learn this fixing my old Jag and got help from the Jag forum then and most the time it was an electronic cheap component that need to be fix.

Hi Just an old tech hanging around for new ideas. Found out that ,thanks, to the new means of U tube ,the tech putting repair tips out there has really effected buisnes. Most people go on line to repair their tvs or throw them away. Has any one seen their volume drop? I feel like a dinosore

Re: New Members - please post your introductions here

I'm a chief engineer on a deep water drilling rig in the Gulf of Mexico, I'm no ET or electrician, I have a basic understanding of electronic components, and have had experience with PCB's and repair of them but not for a long time. I'm looking for some help and guidance about a Main board on my Vizio VP50 HDTV20A, all of my HDMI outputs will not read any more and for a while the sound would shut off, requiring the tv to be cycled on and off several times before it would stay on. I recently purchased what i thought was the right board and believe it was damaged during shipping as it wouldn't even show anything on the screen. I also noticed with the new board the green light for the tv would come on but there was no associated clicking of relay's. So I re-installed the original board and had picture and capability to cycle through the different inputs, but still no HDMI and now no sound what so ever. Any suggestions? If I buy another board will i get the same results? Should I be looking into other boards / components? Thanks for any help.

          Hello,
New to the forum but not to electronics. Started the dis-assembly of an 8-bit NES system at the age of 9 and have not looked back since. Now at the still young age of 26, i have completed an associates in EE and continuing onward for more. Currently serving at a casino as a top level machine technician attempting to gain more experience of board repair and engineering.

                        Hi Guys.

Just looking for a solution for a colleague and wanted to check some pics so I registered.
I am actually an electronic engineer but gave that profession up 20 years ago and went into software. But it is always fun to pick up the soldering iron every now and then

                        Cheers from Iceland.

I am a software developer who recently started tinkering with all the nice stuff under the hood. I have been trying to repair a few monitors and TVs and stumbled upon badcaps.net.
This is bad news for me, as it has inspired me to do more repairs ;-)
