Hi. Thank you for accepting me to your group.
I'm probably a bit older than most of you at 74 years old, but a computer enthusiast nonetheless.
I was a radar/computer computer tech who was originally vacuum tube trained. I worked through transistors and discrete chips into the digital world. My first computer was a Timex 1000. Long before IBM desk tops, and Bill Gates.
Anyway, I appreciate the opportunity to access your resources.Comment

Hello all!
I'm a newbie\amateur electronics repair person by night, IT professional by day!
I'm wanting to get more into repairing computers, electronics, etc. at the board level because the kinds of things that bring me the most joy are old and now "retro". With the rise of AI generated schlock and my 2015 Ford Focus killing it's engine just after 100k miles, I'm done with new stuff whenever I can. I have now been daily driving my first car from high school, 1977 Lincoln Continental that is easy to fix and doesn't have any proprietary nonsense preventing you from just fixing it. Since starting that project a few months ago, my new philosophy is "If it's new, no thank you!"
Needless to say, if I'm going to be into older stuff across the board, I'm going to need resources on repairs, and that's why I'm here!Comment

I'm a (currently 17yrold) fresh high school graduate working as a drafter at a local machine shop. I took part in FIRST Robotics competitions (7470) all through high school and have done board repair for usb ports and minor trace repair and am interested in hard-modding Usb-C PD charging into laptops with USB 3.0 data transfer capabilities included.Comment
