Hi everyone, i'm a PC/Mac technician from Italy who started using my first computer in the early 80s or, if you like, the Commodore 64 years.

It all started like something funny to do and now my passion has become my job.

I have worked for a couple of PC stores here in my hometown and then decided to run my own business.

I've always believed in cooperation between technicians, so i'm hoping to find some useful informations and solutions on this forum.

My name is Fernando, and I'm excited to be part of this awesome hardware community! I've always had a deep interest in how things work behind the scenes, especially when it comes to building and optimizing computers. Whether it's upgrading components, assembling custom builds, or exploring the latest in PC hardware technology, I'm here to learn, share, and contribute my knowledge.

Hello everyone! I am from the US. I have a big interest in repairing all kinds of electronics like consoles, laptops, and random gadgets. I've mostly lurked around here but always liked the idea of learning to repair corrupted bios and building them. Even though I do struggle understanding a lot of it, I hope to learn even a little!

                        Hi,
My member name is zampaz, retired, scientist, engineer, database architect, IT project manager, consultant etc. I started programming in '77, got a BS in physics and did all kinds of things as a dot gov and dot mil contractor.
My enterprise workstation/server build experience is extensive, but my electronics background is weak, and I lack experience with board repair and troubleshooting.
As a hobby, I want to learn about board diagnosis repair, which is why I took on a very challenging project of repairing and subsequently upgrading 2 broken 2017 iMac Pro A1862 workstations that I picked up on eBay.
My goal is first to diagnose these systems, then procure the required equipment to effect the repair. To that end, I've also purchased two donor logic boards for parts as well as a functional power supply board. One of my goals is to develop and share a simple clamping mechanism for the A1862 cpu/heatsink assy to simplify the task of upgrading the cpu and/or refreshing the thermal paste on the A1862 heatsink.
