Epic failure of the screen suction holders

Just sharing a failure of the suction cups used for screen removal. I don't know if these require special maintenance, but they came with no literature.

Today i was repairing a Vizio E70-E3 (70" 4k TV) with bad backlight. One of the suction cups failed and the panel hit the ground and shattered. I got these from SJ so they're supposed to be decent quality.

Anything you guys do to maintain the rubber on these? I wipe them with damp rag before use, then wipe dry. Any hints / tips?

I spray some glass cleaner and then put suction cups over the wet panel. Then grit my teeth while removing. So far so good.
I assume no responsibility for any stupid suggestions I might post.

A 70" TV with those crap things, I guess you found their weight limit.

That’s exactly why I don’t use suction cups. I had 2 break just like that. Now I just use my hands and had no problems with any tv up to 86”

my greatest fear, I only use these for lifting the panel then grab with my normal hands which don't fall off at random.

They have to be very clean and any grease is bad, humidity helps.

Were they old or brought recently

            I use 4 suction holders for a 65 screen

            118mm suction holders..weight limit 10kg

i also slightly wet the panel to help with suction
and do a gentle tug to make sure they are holding

about 1 year old...rubber is soft.. just not sure what is the deal. Maybe it's a weight limit issue

Circular marks left on TV screen after using suction cups
                by marillo
                Hi everyone,

I’ve got a bit of an issue with my TV. I used suction cups to handle the panel while waiting for new backlights to arrive, and they ended up staying on the screen for a few days. Now that I’ve removed them, I can see two large circular marks where the cups were.

The screen wasn’t powered on during that time, but the circles are still clearly visible when the TV is off (and I think slightly visible even when it’s on).

Any tips for fixing it would be greatly appreciated. Cleaning doesnt help. I guess it s pressure damage and not reversible...

MacBook Pro late 2016 (820-00239) with multiple failure modes.
                by npielawski
I will just preface all this by saying that I have a fairly technical background but have never attempted SMD electronics diagnostics and repair before, I really like the idea and want to learn.

I have a MacBook Pro late 2016 that died maybe four years ago. Over the course of 30 seconds, it got slower and stuttered, until it froze for a second and died. No click from the trackpad anymore, nothing. I started getting interested in electronics repair and decided to give it a shot, so I opened it, removed the battery (one cell was puffy), took out the motherboard and experimented with...

Dell 9310 Memory or RAM (Random-Access Memory) failure (2,4)
                by puccovelli
Hi all, I hope this is the right place to post.

I'm having a problem with a Dell 9310 which is posting 2 orange, 4 white lights on startup (hangs on Dell BIOS logo). The service manual says its a RAM failure.

I've taken the motherboard out and noticed that one of what looks like an SMA 0805 resistor has blown (see photo). The board is an LA-J144P Rev 2.0(A01).

1] Could someone confirm what the component that has blow actually is (and where I could get another from).
2] Whether this component is likely to cause the RAM failure issue, and if replacing...

TCL 55S425 few horizontal lines, potential failure on both side of panel/buffer board
                by howardc64
All left and right refers to looking from rear of TV (or looking from front with TV upside down)
                • TV came with vertical bars and no image. Found faulty TVS on left buffer board. Also replaced T-Con (may have damaged the original while hot air removing components, board has slight warp) and have full image but few horizontal lines on the screen. Some of the lines appears to be 2 pixel tall while others are 1 pixel tall.
                • Disconnecting left and right buffer board potentially reveals problems on both sides with different signals (unless this T-Con require jumper like Samsung FB_TRDY1&3) Fault
