There are several plasmas repair that let me down.

Especially on estimate budget in regards of YSUS buffer blown on more than 1 boards (upper and lower) and burned resistors on YSUS driver board.

That let me down because I cannot notice that lower or upper board blown because had easily seen crater or fried RTV around each IC with heatsink.

    Story:

I replaced the upper YSUS buffer board and YSUS board because resistors is cooked. Tried and found that lower buffer is failed as well. Tried another from spares pile and they are also bad. SIGH.

How often do you see that happen?

I've not had that, but have only just begun.

Aside from craigslist and ebay, where do you get non-working panels from for decent price?

The bad stuff only happens to me when I have the tv sold. Thats why you have to enjoy the ones that you fix with one mosfet then spend the rest of the time watching the front of it instead of looking at the back of it while sampling a good wine!

While troubleshooting a Magnavox plasma TV I came across this information. I don't know how valid this is, but it seems to me it would work on any buffer that uses the SN755870 chip. It certainly helped me evaluate the two buffers!!

The same guy has described a quick way to identify the bad IXTA36N30P on the sustain board. The only problem is while both mosfets and buffer chips are available, I doubt I would be able to do the work.

For a number of reasons, both health and personal, I will no longer be active on this board. Any PMs asking for assistance will be ignored.

LG 42PC3 buffer output doesn't follow YSUS
          by legg
LG42PC3D -UD originally with green lamp but no display or audio.
Owner says was working, then went 'pop'.
          All 5V caps bulging. replaced.
All PSU output voltages within spec but -Vy is low on YSUS.
One of three parallel fets between SUS_OUT and SUS_DN is zenering,
eventually shorts DG. Replaced all 3 - -Vy now OK.

Y scan buffer test point does not follow YSUS output below -50V

Note: This unit seems to expect YSUS output to park at -Vy in between
drive signal pattern periods. A replacement drive signal board confirms this....

TCL 55S425 few horizontal lines, potential failure on both side of panel/buffer board
          by howardc64
All left and right refers to looking from rear of TV (or looking from front with TV upside down)
          • TV came with vertical bars and no image. Found faulty TVS on left buffer board. Also replaced T-Con (may have damaged the original while hot air removing components, board has slight warp) and have full image but few horizontal lines on the screen. Some of the lines appears to be 2 pixel tall while others are 1 pixel tall.
          • Disconnecting left and right buffer board potentially reveals problems on both sides with different signals (unless this T-Con require jumper like Samsung FB_TRDY1&3) Fault

          Problem

This is an LG edge LED lit LCD Display. The LEDs are on the bottom edge of the display. There are 2 bars (left and right) Each bar has many LEDs and a 6 pin connector. Each pin drive several LEDs thus is the highest current flow / heat junction. The weak lead free solder gradually fails with thermal expansion/contraction cycling and increases resistance. PSU will compensate up to a point, then when the current is too high, PSU just shut down the backlight causing a dark display. I have even seen one which the connector just fell off as solder points became completely detached....

Whirlpool PACF212HP W portable air conditioner, upper fan only turns slowly.
          by spleenharvester
I just acquired this portable aircon, history unknown. Its behaviour is quite strange:
          • When turned on and placed into cooling mode, the upper fan (cold air out) just spins slowly. The compressor and lower fan do not run.
          • If the device is then placed into heating mode and then back into cooling mode, the lower fan and compressor kick in and start cooling, but the upper fan still only spins slowly.
          • If the device is placed into fan-only mode, the upper fan does not respond to low/medium/high speed toggles - just keeps running slowly.
          • Display and buttons all behave normally aside from the

Schematic or datasheet for Plasma TV buffer chip
          by Yanleb
          Hi all,

I'm interested in understanding how a buffer board chip is working. I know there's about 90 outputs per chip to the plasma panel, but I'm more interested to know about the input pins. I guess that some of them are address pins, but I want to know more.

So far I've found nothing at all. I haven't found any datasheet about the various buffer chips, and I haven't found any schematic for the buffer board using them (Y Buffer Board in Samsung's terminology).

Any information will make me happy. It can be from any buffer chip or plasma TV manufacturer....
