I have a 50" panel that is SO close to being saved. I checked Youtube and Reddit and found this panel has a few faults as well as power-on issues but can be resolved with the "tape fix". Since I found no matches on the forum for this model yet I thought I'd get a thread started. All the videos on youtube appear to be Brazilian, but no Americans have uploaded. Is this model only available in Canada or Mexico or Brasil for some reason? Is Samsung ditching this model on markets other than American because they know it is faulty? It's only 2 years old with 141 hours. Just looking for the correct placement of tape as I have been at this almost all day now with the same result or no picture.

I'm going to take a look at the left side first. I wonder if chopping off the bad one would work, but I hate damaging things.Comment

There don't appear to be any side COFs on this set... looks like the pane goes right to the side with only drivers on the bottom of the screen.Comment

Re: Samsung UN50TU8000F - 1 horizontal line, 1 vertical
I find it very strange that the only helpful videos happen to all be from Brazil and in Spanish. My paranoid theory on this is as follows: Samsung knowingly discontinues a faulty model with a much higher than average fault rate, but then has to sell its remaining stock. They choose Canada and Brazil because the market is different and they don't want to upset American buyers or lose their confidence. So they pick on other countries by dumping this inferior faulted model and give the owners the runaround telling them "we can fix that for you, but the part is backordered"
Customer loses patience, discards TV.
Does anyone who works for Samsung browse these forums? Hopefully I can get the inside dirt.Comment

by IhandyrepairHi guys
I just started fixing 4k TV few months ago. so I am still learning a lot
I got this tv from friend complaint is ghosting or horizontal lines on image.
never saw the original symptom but I took the tv back home. the funny part is that after bringing to home, the tv worked fine no issue for 3 weeks.
then it started to show the ghosting white image.
I started using the tape method, but this tv does not have a T con board and it has only 1 ribbon cable from main board to the tv panel.
it has 3 thin small boards at the bottom of the... -
by cubytusHi to all,
I was given this TV, an entry-level 4K 50" set. Some have criticized its lack of contrast and relatively poor colour rendering, but for my needs, it's very decent.
I reset everything to factory settings, but this line keeps on fading in and out when watching a streaming channel from the Tizen firmware. Interestingly, it only happens when TV is warm, after about 1h45 of it being turned on.
Watching a movie from an external source doesn't trigger the line as easily (needs 2 hours), and from a normal viewing distance, is hardly noticeable. It...1 Photo01-10-2024, 01:26 AM -
by x_orange90_xI posted about this previously but didn't get any response, and I have some troubleshooted a bit so I have more info.
The screen is full of horizontal "gaps" or lines that distort the picture badly, and after about 10 seconds of powering it on the screen starts to fill with red vertical bars that take on the horizontal pattern. After the screen filled with the red bars, they instantly vanished and then slowly started to reappear. I initially thought it was tab bonding failure, but after getting down to them and pressing each one I find zero change in the picture. I went... -

This is an LG edge LED lit LCD Display. The LEDs are on the bottom edge of the display. There are 2 bars (left and right) Each bar has many LEDs and a 6 pin connector. Each pin drive several LEDs thus is the highest current flow / heat junction. The weak lead free solder gradually fails with thermal expansion/contraction cycling and increases resistance. PSU will compensate up to a point, then when the current is too high, PSU just shut down the backlight causing a dark display. I have even seen one which the connector just fell off as solder points became completely detached....-
