Help please on Philips 42PFL7962 NVM values

    Hello everybody,

By mistake ,while in SAM mode , i have reseted the NVM values in the NVM editor (entered value 170 in the address 1)and now my screen geometry is all messed up (stupi me Lol ).

However i can still see the SAM menu and can access the NVM editor.

By any chance that anyone knows the NVM values for this model of LCD TV (chassis is LC7.5E LA) so i can bring it back from dead?

If anyone has the same model would you be so kind to post the OPT values as well (those have changed as well)as they appear in the SAM mode.

    Many thanks in advance,

This information should be in the service manual if this follows Philips usual practice. It can be downloaded from this site.

Re: Help please on Philips 42PFL7962 NVM values

      Hello sir,

Thank you very much for your reply.

Unfortunately there is no info as on NVM settings in that manual (got that manual before,by the way).

So, anyone with Philips model 42PFL7962 or 42PFL7762 could you post here your OPT values as displaye in SAM mode, please?

In that manual there are default OPT values listed for the model but i am sure that before my mistake i have got different ones in my TV.

      Thanks for any reply,

        Update: Problem solved

        Ok, thank you everybody.

Problem solved. Here is the info in case anybody else have the same trouble. It is the same for all Philips sets from PFL series and posibly to all other Philips LCD.

Apparently after reset of NVM via the editor in SAM mode ( that i did by mistake by entering the value 170 in the 1 dec address in NVM editor)the TV defaults to unknown model with wrong resolution and screen size.

Prior entering the OPT values in the SAM mode (via 062596 and then info + button) for the model (OPT values are indicated on the sticker on the back of the LCD and there are 6 of them) it is important to enter the TV model code (which can be found on the side sticker of the LCD,in my case 110) using 062598 then MENU then the code xxx which is a three digit code for a specific model.

The TV then goes into stand by mode and once switched ON ,VOILA it is there again.

Now, in SAM mode RGB values can be adjusted in order to improve the picture.

BY ANY CHANCE that ANYONE did it already?

IT WILL BE highly appreciated if anyone can post the values here for the RGB in cool, normal and warm mode. Even the default values for the model i.e 42PFL7962 or 42PFL7762 or any other Philips 42 inch will do.

        Thank you in advance.

I have a 32PFL3404 model with blank screen (for bad use of service mode. sound is OK).

The big problem is that my LCD doesn´t have any sticker with the DISPLAY CODE, i´have tried many codes already but nothing seem to work.

          Included yours "mtnova"

Please, anybody have this particular model?.... i need those 3 digits.

          062598 MENU XXX <-------

Re: Help please on Philips 42PFL7962 NVM values

            Holy thread resurrection! (sorry)

Story is, my TV, a now old 42' plasma TV, model 42PFP5332D/12 always had problems holding scanned channels, since the very first days. Years ago, when we bought it, i told my father to return the TV because it was obviously defective, but he didn't listen to me (stubborn!). He started playing with it until he was able to memorize channels and have the TV keep them after being turned off and on again (however it didn't hold them completely, but he didn't care).

Yesterday, because there was a missing channel, even if i told him not to, he scanned channels again, and the memorization problems went back, but this time he couldn't force the TV to hold the channels again... So i started digging on the internet and found the service manual, along with your posts and posts from other ppl. So i entered SAM mode and played with the options and i also resetted NVM by entering 170 at address 1. After NVM resetted the TV was in a sad state, wrong colors, missing options, and so on. I've been able to fix some of my problems by entering the correct op codes (again in SAM mode, in which i can enter by inputing 062596 on the RC WHILE BEING IN ANALOG MODE, i cannot enter in SAM while in digital mode! [not mentioned in the manual grrr!]) but atm the image on the Tv is not centered so i have a big black band on the right and on the left the image is cut (misaligned position and size :/).

Sadly, there is no image alignment setting in either SAM mode or in the other modes i tried to enter .

One thing i wasn't able to do is to set the panel code. When i enter 062598 and press MENU then write the three digit code my Tv doesn't do anything (i've read that it should go in stand-by, but it doesn't happen). I've read in another model (similar to mine, or at least i hope so) that i can input the panel code by writing it at NVM 400 (dec) address (my panel code is 083, as written in the service manual). I've done that too, but it doesn't fix the image aligment and size problem :/

mtnova, have u ever been able to resolve your problems completely ?

Recapping Sony ICF-SW55 - verifying cap values
              by proxneo
              Dear reader

I am performing a repair on a Sony ICF-SW55, which includes recapping (some) of the SMD capacitors on the mainboard. I am looking for verification of their values. At the moment, I'm 95% sure I've got the right values, but it is hard to find some official, credible or multiple independant sources on this.

At the moment, I have selected replacements based on the following list of values:

              3 x 470uF 10VDC
              3 x 4.7uF 35VDC
              4 x 47uF 50VDC
              8 x 22uF 6.3 VDC
              1 x 220uF 6.3VDC
              5 x 100uF 6.3VDC

              Which...

              Any ideas would be appreciated.

I can get Capacitor values from nearby components but wanted to know the max ratings also I dont have equipment to measure inductors....

Philips 8200 series 65PUS8204/12 stuck at Philips Logo
              by G33RT
Philips 8200 series 65PUS8204/12 stuck at Philips Logo, it does not reboot it just stays on the logo.

It does power up when pressing the power button.

I already try the power button while plugin the plug with no result.
Also put the latest firmware autorun-TPM191E_R.001.004.100.000.upg on a MBR/FAT32 USB stick at USB port2 with no result either.

Could this be an PSU or eMMC issue ?

Different (lower) resistor values on PCB?
              by Kobok
              Dear Alls,
For sure it id a stupid question, but help me to understand. I am in a Dell 2007WFP revitalizing project - searching reason why not starting. Some resistors needed to replaced is is obvious. When I have soldered some resistors the measured (with multimeter) values were sometimes rather different written on them. I supposed these are wrong units so I desoldered and made a checking measurement and voilá the values is the same is written on. This happens only in case of a few resistors, most have the same values (+/- 10%) are written on it. "strange" SMD resistors =>103...

Philips curling iron - is this a common AC cable?
              by double_DD
              Hi all,

Wife has 2 Philips hair curling irons half defective - after learning how they're supposed to work and testing them, it turned out that both have defective power cables, and both on the same place; broken wires due to wire bending.
As they were both relatively easy to disassemble, and cables are plugged not soldered (as they can rotate in the handle), I was sure it would be easy to find replacements. But - NO! I'm unable to find anything similar on ebay or Aliexpress.

Not sure if this is something Philips proprietary, or a standard, but the cable plug...
