Re: Help with Sony KDL-37S5500 TV Display issue please
Hi yes I could get the menus up and they was very clear not like when I put played a DVD for example.
I did not tune the TV in, I was hoping to check the picture via the DVD and HDMI channel.
They said it would not power on, but it did for me and the issue with the lvds card.
So originally I thought about just change out the PSU card, but it was not until I plugged it in DVD then I the pixel issue.
I did look for settings as I thought the bit rate need to be higher. But I could not find nothing.

Hi nomoresonys
So my Nan is in her 90's now with degrading eyesight and mostly chair bound. So I was looking online for a larger TV for my nan.
I found one this Sony TV, going free with the statement that it would not power on, so that to me sounded like a far easier fix.
So I plugged the TV and I get to see the menu's clear but they are in a lower bit rate. So put the TV in the other room I did not connect the TV to the aerial as that was in the other room, so I wanted to test the screen and power up using the DVD via the HDMI channel this is when I noticed the issue with the screen. As the power issue could have been solved as it was stored in the person loft, so had time to power drain.
I looked about about the fault with the screen and can up with the T-CON board replacement, so I did this as you have seen, same problem. I returned that card.
I then saw another card to which I though would try again but this card looks like it's not new as there is residue on the main chip, so I question it, in addition the ribbon cables on this one was harder to align unlike the other two cards. However I still had the same issue.
So are you saying tuning the TV could resolve the screen issue for TV and DVD?

or maybe do the factory reset first: for the factory reset you can try this: menu options: Select Device Preferences → Reset → Factory data reset → Erase everything → Yes, might work your model may be different.

would be good if you could find the firmware, just to see if it fixes it, sonys quite often need to update/pair with mainboard changes, might help in this situation also.
Re: Help with Sony KDL-37S5500 TV Display issue please
did you check all the vg's on the tcon? start with 1, go to 2,3 all the way to the last one, should be linear as the next one a little higher but not lower, but I don't see how 3 tcons could all be bad and give the exact same fault. you are sure you didn't change anything in service menu that could cause the problem?
