40" Samsung UE40JU6400K

initally no backlight, but can hear sound.
unplugged TCON and backlights come on. but no picture.
plugged TCON back in and removed 1 of the 2 panel connections, backlights come on. but no picture.
tried other panel connector on its own - same, backlights on, no picture.

but.. plug both panels connections in and no backlights.

found a shorted SMD capacitor on right panel board , removed and waiting for a replacement to turn up.

in the meantime - why is there no picture at all ?

does the tcon fuse test ok (usually near lvds connector)
i have had this issue recently on a panasonic set and was a faulty tcon

TCON fuse is good. 12v on both side.
have actually swapped the TCON with another board now.
same result.

Check that you have lvds signals going into t-con. Should have around 1.5v on each.

Ok. No lvds 1.5v signals.
I've got 12v and 3.5v on the tcon.
Is this a MB fault then?
