Ok, so I replaced the video board. Still no go. X board is good, Yboard is good. On the LVDS control board the first LED blinks (d17), D13 Lights up and D12, 11 and 10 are off. What does this mean. The only thing I could find is that they are supposed to be lit per an LG manual. What does it mean when they are off?

Re: LG Plasma Again
video output board is connected to this board. It is called the LVDS control board in service literature, which doesn't mention the lights.
This is the exact board:

Re: LG Plasma Again
I have been trying to find out same and I will as soon as I get back to my l/g 42 with a bad pdp. All of the l/gs have the control with the lights. none of the l/gs I have worked on had d15 lit and some would light up at different times. As Wizard said these are not for diag. You want to check voltage on z board (on the board near the bottom per scribd training manual) as well as at the fuses, not sure which one you have. Bad z will give you a dark or very dim picture and you will be missing the z set up voltage.Comment

Re: LG Plasma Again
I found your old thread and you said both y and z boards had blown fuses. When these boards fire up you can hear them running. If you replace the control board and you have the voltages from the power supply and you don`t hear the boards running I would say you took out the y sus board. On this model I think the power supply feeds the z board through the y sus board.Comment

Re: LG Plasma Again
Well both boards were humming. Now the Z is not and hence the y will not either.
http://www.scribd.com/doc/13724852/4...ies-PDP-Module
this is helping me out as the principles are the same. gonna check that hybrid on the z board and the resistors on the x boards.
If the main control board is broke and the zsus is broke too now, I don't know if I should keep messing with this TV. Gonna be a waste of money soon.Comment

Re: LG Plasma Again
Change the logic board back to old one.
PS: be careful of ribbon cables, be extra care they are inserted correctly. Z is the vertical strip drivers (along the bottom of the panel usually). The Y and X is on both sides, the Y is the usual failure. 135V is a leak. Check the Y buffer chips for one warmer than rest or crater or a fried passive component.

Re: LG Plasma Again
I just replaced the Y though, unless I broke it again. It was humming till I heard a pop from the Z and now it hums no longer. Problem was Y. Then no video. Now its back to square 1. Since the pop, the Z is only 78v out and one of the big transistors on the Y is only 25v. If either of the hybrids blew, I need a new board. I will check the Y again though because I have some spares from the old board.Comment

Re: LG Plasma Again
Sounds like your faulty board is hurting all the other boards and you are just chasing your tail on this thing. I would fire the y board (with out feeding the z board) off of the control board. This way you will know the y board is working. I wouldn`t worry about a picture right now. just get each board to fire up. Also unplug the x boards from y and z. I have done this on other units with out any problems. just plug or unplug with power off.
You will be able to just fire up the y board and check volts per the training manual. It is easy to learn when you don`t have to give the tv back to the customer. I buy broken...repair and sell. If I can`t repair... I learn.
good luck! CadimanComment

Re: LG Plasma Again
How can I fire the Y up without the Z? Not in the manual. The x boards are good so is the COF stuff. I went in there last night and checked it all. Going to double check the small y boards but they appear good too. Taking the hybrid off the Z with a desoldering iron now and going to see. I def need a new ctrl board. The vout board was blown too but now that is good. If I can get the hybrid and a cheap control board I might fix it.Comment

Re: LG Plasma Again
y and z chip on yours has the 4 screws one on each corner? give me the panel number off the sticker ( on the pdp ) and I will look at the set up. You can break off the chip corners with screwdriver and remove the heat sink then cut the pins at tne chip with small side cutters then remove the pins one by one. Also a butane soldering iron kicks but on these. I install the chip without the heat sink and use small allen bolts and brass thumb knobs to install heat sink afterwards. Also nice if you have to go back in to re solder or replace the chip latter. I think you said you worked on the crt stuff. I am much better at board and solder work than using my scope, but I always find a way and get stuff working again.
Ambition will always make up for any lack of ability!

Re: LG Plasma Again
Panel is PDP42v6. Yea, 4 screws on each corner. Know where to get any? I just used my de-soldering iron on this one. On the Ysus I took it off with braid but I fucked up one or two contacts. This one came off perfect.

Re: LG Plasma Again
I didn`t fix anything until I was about 14, but I sure took out a wharehouse of electronics to get there! you can`t learn unless you f -up...alot. After this you will be an expert on l/g I promise you. Punch in the first part number on the heat sink (on ebay) and it should come up. I will look when I log on soon. I have all of the boards you need, but I didn`t test them yet.

Can't source it. Only saw it on a UK site for $70. But take a gander at this:

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?by Tynan DillI was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.
Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.
I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.
The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.
With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

by m1ch43lzmHi, this is my personal laptop, which the original board (lets call it Board A) blew up PU8700 (TPS51486), making a hole on the board, i had left the laptop at my desk one day with the battery fully charged and didn't touch it for a week, but when i tried to turn it on it didn't
Thought the battery was dead, so i plugged in the charger then tried to power on, the power LED blinked once, charged LED still orange, unplugged the charger, plugged in again and I noticed the "magic smoke" smell, so i unplugged the charger, removed the back cover and saw the blown IC (the "magic... -

I happened several times, in the search for help from the web, to consult this very interesting forum.
So I decided to sign up and I intend to participate actively by making available my knowledge and experience on the subject, I'm a new user but at the same time I'm old in the sense that I have 4 decades of experience in repairing and designing electronics but above all I'm a great passionate about the subject.
Having said that I come to the gist of my post on the forum as the title suggests.

by WiredRacingHey all, want to poke the hive mind here for a technology I must be missing something critical about I can't discern from looking at spec sheets alone.
I have an ATGames Legends Pinball machine, the playfield is a 32" LCD Display. I'm trying to attach an LCD controller to it for direct PC access, as others have been successful.
The LCD is a SPLENDID CD320B01A-350 (I think it's a custom panel for ATGames as google turns up nothing), which is mated to a HV320FHB-N02 (47-6021088) T-CON board (this is probably the important component anyhow)
The LCD...-

by HakuuHi There,
This TV was auto switching off after few seconds with some vertical lines on the screen, so got a new TCON board and replaced it.
After replacing the TCON board it was working fine and i set it up with everything, used for few hours, then had the bright idea to update the software on it. During the update process, TV switched off and now no audio or video. No relay switch sound.
