Hi there i recently bought this tv from a family member as it was not turning on when opening it up i found 5 burnt smd resistors

here are some pics





sorry about pitcher quality ?

there are 3 at bottom right next to the transformer

and another 2 next to the fets

so i bought a brand new board of ebay and replaced it and it still dosent work
it will only switch on when you put the voltage switch to low when you put in on high you get one click then a few seconds later another

I am in the process of checking the caps but my solder tips are nackered
so i cant remove any just now. Any advice and help appreciated

Advice, first. Read the FAQs, especially this one on inserting images.

Next, it would help if we know the area you live in - or more specifically, is your line voltage 120 VAC as in North America, or 240 VAC as used in other parts of the world?

Also, it's a minor point, but I fail to see the purpose of posting mediocre pictures of a power supply you don't need.

Question next. Who made the panel in this TV? This should be on labels in the upper right or upper left of the plasma panel. I'd suggest pictures, but....

Help next: A common cause of the symptoms you describe is a shorted load - for example, a shorted Z-sus card. LG Electronics suggests troubleshooting by unplugging power cables to specific cards to identify the culprit. NO IDEA what would happen if you tried this on panels from other manufacturers.

hi there very sorry about the upload of the pics from another web i am new to this but i was trying to show the burnt resistors locations but the camera i borrowed wasn't that good at close ups.

And i live in the uk ( 240v )

The power board part number is ( pkg-1971 ) made by Sanken pdc20327.M

I am in the process of checking the caps with a cap meter on the y-sus as i have read a previous post about one failing they are made by
( samwha ) 250v 150uf there are four on this board but my soldering iron tip is not transferring heat the tip is dull. so awaiting new tips.

Any help appreciated thanks for keeping me wright plainbill i will remove the first two pics . i hope i have done the pics properly this time.

I have read in previous posts to disconnect xsus and the ysus one at a tome to see if it will stop duble clicking to safe mode tried removing the xsus cable then the ysus cable but Evan if i remove both the cables at the same time the power board still clicks twice does this mean anything.

Probably. Design varies from manufacturer to manufacturer, but the usual process it the standby power supply (typically 5 volts) is on whenever the TV is plugged in. This provides power for the standby processor and the remote control receiver. When the power button is pressed the standby processor closes a relay to turn on the main power supply, then monitors the various main power supply outputs. If any of these supplies do not reach their nominal value within a second or two the main power supply is turned off.

Most power supplies I've seen in plasma TVs have identifiers on the power supply outputs. By measuring the output voltage of each supply when the power button is pressed you can see which supply is failing, then determine if the problem is the power supply of the load.

Thanks plainbill for that infomation i am going on holiday tonight for a week but when i get back i will check the voltages on the power board at the test points. and i will let you know the results.
