Actually, ask youself why. A circuit requires complete travel around various areas in a loop and many circuits have many loops.

Why did the resistor went up in smoke? This is 1/8W resistor, not very much current ablility, and not the overfusing. Something else is doing this and fuse is merely a safety fuse to prevent house from burnt down and limit damage.

    You'll get the clue eventually.

    Cheers, Wizard

I believe the reason why this resistor blew was because I replaced the T3.15 250V (T=Time Lag) with an F3.15 250V (F=Fast Acting).

This is actually my first time really testing circuit, so I am just beginning to learn these information.

Question for Bill, what could cause the fuse to blow in the first place?
Don't have a clue, except something was shorted. I'm curious, but too cheep to spend $$$ for a service manual.

By the way, replacing a time delay fuse with a fast acting fuse won't damage the circuit. A time delay is designed to allow a momentary surge in current without blowing, a fast acting fuse blows faster (Duh! I can't believe I said that.)

The strange thing is only a single resister was noticeably blown and the fuse is unaffected. I think the first time the fuse was blown caused some damage to other component and this is the result when you put in a new fuse.

I just received my new power supply today and installed it. Unfortunately it still doesn't work, but now it turns on. I'm getting one blue flash followed by 6 red flashes, then it repeats flashing red 6 times until I turn it off.

Locate the service manual for the chassis. Many of them are available free online. On the only Philips LCD manual I have that is a 'General I2C bus error'.

I tried goggling it but it's no where to be found. Can you tell me where to look?

You have to translate the model number into the chassis number, then search on that. Electrotanya.com has it. Here's the link. You may have to register.

It turns out that 6 blinks means the 5V supply isn't detected as coming up properly.

The board I recieved from eBay turns out to be defective, so I returned it and got a new one. Now the tv is back in working order. I really appreciate all the help that I've recieved from this awesome forum. I really wish you the very best with the cataract sugery bill.
