Re: Viewsonic VX2255WMB *New caps still not working*
Monitor works great now with new fuse. The fuse I ordered was extremely small (about 1.5 mm in length, original was 3.5mm) which was the only size digikey had available so it was a pain in the a** to install. Special thanks goes out to Plain Bill and all other member who helped me repair this monitor....

Re: Viewsonic VX2255WMB *New caps still not working*
Good thing they are not short because I can imagine how hard it would be to remove the 3rd pin with solder holding it underneath. But SMD are a pain the the a** in general to remove/install without proper tool.
The reading I got from the diode in the opposite direction was 1.993 and correct direction was 0.488. They are probably still good since this was tested in circuit....

Re: Viewsonic VX2255WMB *New caps still not working*
Also the diode in front D105 (the one between the 2 small caps) have failed since I am getting readings on both directions.
The 16 pin IC to the left of the transistors part number is
Top: BIT3501
Bottom: FA23P G0643Last edited by xclusiveplayer; 07-21-2010, 11:32 PM.

Re: Viewsonic VX2255WMB *New caps still not working*
I set my digital meter to auto and here are the results.
Q205:
Pin 1&2: 2.6 Mohm
Pin 1&3: 10 Mohm
pin 2&3: 4.5 Mohm
Q208:
Pin 1&2: 2.6 Mohm
Pin 1&3: 10 Mohm
pin 2&3: 4.5 Mohm
Diode test works as well.
Top on the transistor near pin 3 says: 9973GH
Lower says: 625191Last edited by xclusiveplayer; 07-21-2010, 11:15 PM.

Re: Viewsonic VX2255WMB *New caps still not working*
Guess I just have to keep this monitor for spare parts, as the cost of replacing the back light is too expensive. I do not have any spare CCFL to further test this monitor. The only CCFL I have are in my working monitors, but its not worth the trouble to take them out just to test it.Last edited by xclusiveplayer; 07-21-2010, 02:01 PM.

Re: Viewsonic VX2255WMB *New caps still not working*
I apologize for the crappy pictures shot with my phone as my digital camera suddenly stop working. I cannot provide better pics until I can afford a decent camera.
No, the small ones rarely fail and they tested fine with my ESR meter so I didn't bother to replace them.
When shined with the flashlight, I only see an image on the far right side about a quarter of the screen.
The transistor tested fine (not shorted).
I am suspecting back light/inverter ...Last edited by xclusiveplayer; 07-21-2010, 12:18 PM.

Viewsonic VX2255WMB *New caps still not working*
I am repairing a Viewsonic VX2255WMB for a friend that had new Nichicon HE series caps installed. The monitor turns on but no back light and stays on blue light for about 5 sec then turn red. The backlight/ccfl transformer tested within spec with my fluke. I also noticed the yellow rectangular transformer making noticeable buzzing/hissing noise. Does anyone know how I can tell if the yellow rectangular transformer is defective? Also is there any way that I can test the backlight without having to buy expensive equipment?...Last edited by xclusiveplayer; 07-20-2010, 11:03 PM.

Re: Blue ESR Meter "F6" Error
My meter doesn't zero out like it supposed to when I short the leads together. What may be wrong? Every is correctly in place.

Re: PHILIPS 32" LCD 32PFL7332D/37 WILL NOT POWER ON!
Is it possible to find a replacement resistor for this board. I remember the color on the resistor was brown black red gold = 1000 ohm axial type. Did a search on digikey but too many results showed up.
I believe the reason why this resistor blew was because I replaced the T3.15 250V (T=Time Lag) with an F3.15 250V (F=Fast Acting).
This is actually my first time really testing circuit, so I am just beginning to learn these information.
Question for Bill, what could cause the...

Re: PHILIPS 32" LCD 32PFL7332D/37 WILL NOT POWER ON!
Just bought a new power supply from ebay for $50 shipped. Will update you guys further when it arrives. Picture of the blown resister below. Horrible mistake on my part.
Lesson learned: NEVER REPLACE BLOWN FUSE WITH DIFFERENT TYPE/RATING....

Re: PHILIPS 32" LCD 32PFL7332D/37 WILL NOT POWER ON!
I think something disastrous just happened. I tried a cooper bussman fuse rated at 3.15a 250v ceramic fuse and the continuity test pass all the way to the cord.
As soon as I plugged in the power cord to the outlet a spark appeared and a nasty smell. Now one of the resister is all black out and possibly blown. Silly me to have tried this.Last edited by xclusiveplayer; 04-26-2010, 03:05 PM.
