Samsung UN55MU6290FXZA, backlight flash, user inputs null, screen malfunction

    Hello everyone,

So from the free pile I picked up a Samsung UN55MU6290FXZA.

    Symptoms and observations:

Power Supply voltages at correct values

Plug the TV in, turns on by itself, continuously attempts to re-boot itself, control by remote/buttons on back of the TV is lost.

Horizontal lines emanate from the left side of screen on first boot attempt.

The COFs from the screen to the source driver boards do not appear to be overheated or damaged

    Diagnostic actions and observations:

Detaching one LVDS cable from the screen at the Main Board upon either the left or right side results in continuous re-boot stopping and restoration of user control by remote.

There are no apparent shorts of any components on the source driver boards, but a few components on the right board, inboard side have suspicious low Vf (voltage forward) readings of .180

With both LVDS cables attached voltage test points (VDD, VA, VSS) have some voltage upon them just before the backlights illuminate then voltage drops off or disappears altogether shortly after.

This looks like a screen fault of some sort. The question is, can this be repaired or worked around with a side tab removal or similar action? If not, does anyone have any specific diagnostic routines I can apply to narrow down the problem?

These newer models without tcons are more difficult to diagnose and not sure if the left/right side test applies. I had one that didn't turn on and then the owner told me later the screen was hit on the far right side. I ripped the tab bond off in that section and the TV turned on. Can only check the power supply and backlights are good by disconnecting the main/ps cable.

My guess is since user control is restored by disconnecting one LVDS and the "continuous re-boot" stops indicates a screen fault. So this model does have side drive tabs?

There are no side drive tabs upon the screen, and there is no damage to the side of the screen.

You can try scotch tape method. Don't ask me which pins, just try different locations.

I never thought of that....but for some reason I had it in my mind that doesn't work on TVs without a T-con? I will try though!

Those are the cables after T-con, so it doesn't matter if T-con is standalone or integrated into MB.

So the strange factor goes up. If I cover up one trace the TV still constantly tries to re-start, however if I cover up 2 traces it doesn't.

After that I tried covering only the 2 outboard traces, 2 at a time on each side of both LVDS cables and the TV does not try to re-start. It also responds to the remote but still no picture.

                This is so strange!

                  Samsung UE55JU6800K half screen dark
                  by Chrissygizmo
Hello everyone, I’ve just been given a Samsung UE55JU6800K smart tv as it had white spots on the screen due to the led lenses falling off. After refitting them & putting the tv back together I thought it was a nice easy fix for a free bedroom tv , then I tried it before screwing the back into place. I realised that the right side of the screen was darker than the other side, I removed the screen again as I thought the backlights had failed but they are fine.
I put the screen back in place & turned it back on . The screen seemed to be ok again but different screens on the same...

samsung galaxy ao2s very temperamental after screen replaced
                  by Chrissygizmo
Hi , I've recently replaced the screen in my Samsung galaxy ao2s, at first it wouldn't even turn on, it had the charging symbol on the screen when plugged in but the green circle wasn't going around to show it charging....
Ive eventually managed to get it on and working but it's very temperamental...

The battery icon always reads as 50% , when the phone goes into lock screen mode i sometimes can't get the screen back on unless I plug the charger in to get it to light up, also it keeps putting the camera app on.. u think it could be something to do with the side buttons. ...

Samsung LH82QENELGC/EN Help needed - Static line on screen
                  by Kiberge
                  HI guys!

I've got a Samsung LH82QENELGC/EN with a problem and need some advice and I hope this is the forum to use?
I'm from Norway so I'd like to apology in advance if my description of the fault is kind of simple or the names on the components are way off. 😊

the TV is powering up, working as normally and picture is all good, except a 1.5-inch-wide vertical line of snow/static across the screen.

This TV is a Signage Display/Public Display version and it's been used at my work for 4-5 years showing commercials 24/7. The fault occurred when...

Macbook 2017 with touchbar (A1706) won't turn on after removing the screen
                  by Ryan.man
Hello everybody! Posting this in hopes somebody has some expertise that leads to a clear path of troubleshooting that saves me a lot of time!

My macbook has the flex cable problem, the one that prevents the screen turning on. Ive been dealing with this for the last 3 years. Last year it went dead and I managed to fix it following youtube tutorials. But my fix wasnt the best, the problem returned a month later. This week, it went dead again. I again tried to fix it.

This time the original cable broke too close to the screen, it can't be fixed without tearing the screen...

Samsung UN50NU7400 - No Picture (but boot screen and screensaver)
                  by arbitarytwist
Have a Samsung UN50NU7400 which shows a boot screen and a screen saver if left on long enough but no picture ?

Would a moving screen saver confirm that the panel is ok or it could still be a panel issue ?
