Has anyone out there had any experience with the Mitsubishi LT-52149? (The LT-46149 is identical and uses the same main and power boards, just a smaller panel) I have one that is very intermittent and normal logical troubleshooting steps are not working for me. The set came in with a no sound/no picture problem. After I hit the reset button on the control panel, I got it to come on one time. Snowy screen and loud static in the speakers so I hit the input button to try to switch to an HDMI to quiet it down. It said it was adjusting something and then just shut down. I held the menu and input buttons down for 5 seconds to get the shut down code, and it was 12, normal shut down, no indication of a shorted inverter or panel, and both did seem to be working with the good bright picture. But after that, it would not turn back on again. I tried a different main board from Ebay which acted similar but more erratic. It would turn on, let me autoscan for stations and program fine, but the next time I went to turn it on, it went back into the setup mode like that memory had been lost. And every button on the control panel would make it start autoscanning, including the power button. Other times it would not turn back on at all after just having shut it off a few minutes prior. I also tried a different power board from Ebay which I think may be defective because when it turned on, the screen was pulsating off and on, and the picture didn't seem to have any vertical sync. When I put the original power board back in, it came on solid with no pulsating. Last night it wouldn't turn on at all with the new main board even after a couple rests and unplugging it and plugging it back in. So I put the original main board back in and it turned on right away, let me autoscan to program all the channels, I adjusted the brightness, contrast, backlight, and color for a good picture and it ran good for an hour. So I powered it down, tried to turn it back on 2 minutes later (with both the remote and front panel) and it's totally dead again, no response to the power button. When I press the reset button or unplug it and plug it back in, it goes through the normal bootup routine of the green LED flickering for about a minute then it goes out. But it just won't turn on. I even let it sit all night unplugged and tried it again this morning. Green LED flashes normal for about a minute and stops after I plug it in, but it still won't turn on. At this point, I have no idea if my problem is in the main or power board and if I possibly got defective replacement boards. I suspect the new power board bad for sure with the flickering but not sure about the main board. Also wondering if there is anything else besides the 2 boards that could be causing this symptom? I've never worked on a Mitsubishi before so any advice would be appreciated.

Hi
Your photos are to small to really see down to the component level.Willing to help but I'm no expert. -
Re: Mitsubishi LT-52149 help
I'm not sure how to get better pictures. If I get any closer you can't see the whole board.
But Shopjimmy has pretty good pictures of the power and main boards on their website.

No longer in stock of course otherwise I'd by from them to guarantee good working parts. Chop shop parts can be kinda hit and miss. At this point I don't know if I have 2 bad main boards or if I'm overlooking something else that could be causing the problem.Comment

It's the size of the photos as attachments that are small.Willing to help but I'm no expert.Comment

Re: Mitsubishi LT-52149 help
I took the pictures with the camera on my phone which backs them up to Google Photos so I download from there to attach but I believe that reduces resolution. This set are the original pictures transferred directly from my phone. Will decreased resolution make them smaller? Please let me know if these look any better.Comment

Re: Mitsubishi LT-52149 help
Have you had the opportunity to measure the voltages at the connector PA and PB when successfully switched on and been able to compare them against when it refuses to come back on.
With the original power and mainboard are you able to freeze the EEPROM or SPI IC on the mainboard or warm up the BGA IC with a hairdrier to see if that will bring it the set up.
Just grasping at straws here but you never know.Willing to help but I'm no expert.Comment

Re: Mitsubishi LT-52149 help
I figured it out, turned out to be something stupid lol. Regular troubleshooting steps were getting me nowhere on this one and I had even gone so far as to not only check the standby voltage but probe the little surface mount electrolytic caps on the main board to check for ripple. I saw a guy do that on YouTube to find some bad caps, on his TV, the front LED never stopped blinking. Normal is to blink and then stop after about a minute which is exactly what mine was doing. I even let it sit overnight unplugged because the times it did work, it would usually do so "cold" after just plugging it in. But this morning it still wouldn't start.
And the times it randomly shut itself off, there was no fault code, just a code 12 for normal shut down. It just didn't make sense. The other symptom was that the panel buttons weren't working right, other than the reset button. Power, Channel and volume up and down would blank the screen for a second but not change anything and the input button would make it say configuring settings then shut off to not restart. I finally realized that was a good clue. I unplugged the push button panel board, and the TV worked normal with the remote. I could turn it off and on as many times as I wanted to and it came on every time. Turns out there was around a 300 ohm short across the Enter button loading down the panel causing the erratic operation. I desoldered the switch out of the board and the resistive short stayed with the switch even if I pressed and released it. I found a similar push button switch in the front panel board from an old junk VCR and replaced the bad one, now everything is working normal and with the original main and power boards. I knew something unusual was going on with this one, it just took awhile to figure out what it was. Nothing like a good mystery!Comment
