    Vizio e550i-b2 won’t turn on, standby 4.97v

Working on a Vizio e550i-b2 tv that won't power on. I have 4.97v standby with or without the main board connected. Based on some (bad) research this led me to replace the main board. Still won't power on. I'm getting 0v at the smaller connector above the larger connector where I measured standby voltage. The smaller connector is marked 28v. Also, there is no white light coming on under the power button. I resoldered the connector between the power board and board next to it (led board I think it's called). This is my first attempt at television repair and would appreciate any help.

Some power supplies require 0V to bring them out of standby. With the mainboard disconnected use a 1K jumper resistor (or close to that value) connected from standby to ground and check what secondary supplies you have then.
Willing to help but I'm no expert.

If you want to check the power supply, disconnect the cable between the power supply and main board, then connect 5VSB to PS-ON, You can use around a 1k resistor

All I have is a 4.7k resistor. I’ll get a 1k tomorrow and check. Where am I checking for secondary supplies and what will I be looking for. Am I checking voltage at the 28v smaller connector above the large svsb connector? This is all new to me, but I’d like to learn.

E550i-B2 has a common soldering fault between the led driver and the power supply connector. Remove both boards together. Disconnect them after removing. The solder joints on the bottom of the power supply of this connection may (probably) are old and loose. Resolder this connector. I have bought this model at least 10 times from people who said no power. At least 9 had the bad solder joints. Everyone fired right back up after the repair.

I had already resoldered and got nothing. Tonight I shorted between standby and ps on and got fluctuated voltage at the 28v connector. Checked continuity on all wires between psu and main board. All were good. Reconnected all connectors and tried to check voltage at power button. When I pressed power button the set came on. It is working fine now. I have no idea what the problem was, although I did put in a new main board. If anyone has an idea what fixed it, I would sure be interested to know.

Hi, this is my personal laptop, which the original board (lets call it Board A) blew up PU8700 (TPS51486), making a hole on the board, i had left the laptop at my desk one day with the battery fully charged and didn't touch it for a week, but when i tried to turn it on it didn't
Thought the battery was dead, so i plugged in the charger then tried to power on, the power LED blinked once, charged LED still orange, unplugged the charger, plugged in again and I noticed the "magic smoke" smell, so i unplugged the charger, removed the back cover and saw the blown IC (the "magic...

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

All left and right refers to looking from rear of TV (or looking from front with TV upside down)
              • TV came with vertical bars and no image. Found faulty TVS on left buffer board. Also replaced T-Con (may have damaged the original while hot air removing components, board has slight warp) and have full image but few horizontal lines on the screen. Some of the lines appears to be 2 pixel tall while others are 1 pixel tall.
              • Disconnecting left and right buffer board potentially reveals problems on both sides with different signals (unless this T-Con require jumper like Samsung FB_TRDY1&3) Fault

Vizio D50u-D1 Dead Set No Standby
              by fharris1977
Hi. I got a Vizio with no power or standby, and won't turn on with remote or button. I checked the voltages on the connector and all read 0.00V or nearly 0(0.050 ON/OFF pin). None of the pins are labeled STB for standby although I do see some 5V pins. Other than the obvious standby led, which isn't coming on, is there a way to check for standby voltage on this PS. I'm trying to see if my problem is the PS or mainboard. Some Vizios I have fixed with no standby led me to think it was the PS but it turned out being the mainboard. Any experience with this set would be greatly appreciated.

              Hi There,

This TV was auto switching off after few seconds with some vertical lines on the screen, so got a new TCON board and replaced it.

After replacing the TCON board it was working fine and i set it up with everything, used for few hours, then had the bright idea to update the software on it. During the update process, TV switched off and now no audio or video. No relay switch sound.
