    Samsung UE55MU6400U Dark Vertical Strip

    Hi

Got a Samsung UE55MU6400U TV here with a dark vertical strip. I'm thinking its one of LED strips. Does it look like a LED strip fault and is it a tricky job ? I'm familiar with TV's but never disassembled a screen. See attached.

    Cheers

Strange that its from top to bottom
Seems as though the set has 2 strips possible fitted top and bottom.
Perhaps the led driver is faulty.

Yes, same as Diah.. probably led gone short c., my brother has 49" version, after 1&1/2 year leds are not uniforms, so poor technology.. better to save money for local dimming sets.. they can't fail i think..

Lots of edge lit backlight failures on NU and I guess MU series now. Strips are on the bottom in left and right banks. Screwless back cover as well.

Colorful LCD Vertical Lines on Samsung ue55es8090
            by Falki
Hello there, ive recently found an older 55inch Samsung SmartTV.
Sadly it has vertical lines at the left and one line in the middle-right.

I have already tested out the connections and have looked at the soldered ribbons of the LCD panel to see if some contacts got loose by pushing them a bit but with no success.
I have factory resetted the TV as well but also with no luck.

I am afraid that it is indeed a LCD Panel issue but there are NO scratches or any impact-marks..

A similar issue has been posted as well but also with no actual response ...

Samsung LC32HG70QQUXEN - vertical and horizontal stripes across the screen
            by kotel studios
            Hi,

Just now my Samsung LC32HG70QQUXEN monitor gave up on me. On cold boots I get many vertical stripes going across the screen (see the attached picture). After it runs for 1-2 minutes those go away but there are horizontal stripes going across the whole screen no matter of the input and PCs I use. (couldn't take an picture of it since the image size goes to 20MB and the camera doesn't pick them up)

In a video about a 27" monitor with an similar issue the guy removes one resistor and supposedly the entire monitor goes back to life? For sure this fix is only temporary....

Soooo, I found someone giving away their 70" Vizio TV because it wouldn't turn on. Hoping it would be just some bad caps, I snapped it up. No dice. No bulging caps. TV would start consuming about 7W immediately after plugging it in, but no response from the remote or power button. Thermal showed the main chip on the mobo getting warm and nothing else. Power supply appeared to deliver stable 12V to the mainboard.

I ordered a replacement mobo(actually both mobo and PSU just to be sure) and popped it in. Picture! Sound! Endorphins! Then I noticed three long dark strips. Hmmm, had...

Vizio M65Q7-H1 Red Vertical Strips fixed by tape blocking LC1 signal to half of the panel
            by howardc64
            Failure Symptom

No picture, just red vertical stripes. Google search shows quite common problem for these recent Vizio M series although red vertical stripe pattern may differ. Some call it "Netflix" boot screen haha.

            Where is the short?

Panel has 4x buffer boards. Quickly found the 1/4 panel buffer board with the problem by selectively disconnecting buffer board flex cables.

Having recently fixed another Vizio with similar symptoms that was a shorted ESD diode array ( link ) Probed the ESD diode array but...
