thanks. Can I rule out either mainboard or faulty panel? Is Tcon the most likely?

I just disconnected the Tcon ribbons carefully and I was able to get a full white clear screen on each half. The first time the left half was fully white and right half looked like it had been smashed! all kinds of lines and colours. Put it all back, fired the tv up: blank screen again.

Pulled the ribbons again. This time the right half was fully white and the left half mostly grey.

Is it safe to conclude the panel itself is ok?

    Bueller?

at this point I have this TV

The backlight lights up. It has sound. it shows no image whatsoever.

The first few minutes it gave the blue screen as shown in the pictures above. Though it did stay on the left side size and shape changed a little per power cycle. Once it filled the screen with a purplish hue, the entire screen, giving me some confidence that the LCD panel itself is ok.

After a few cycles the screen remains blank. The backlight working and sound as well.

Am I to suspect a faulty T-con board? or could it be the main board graphics processor?

I suppose both. Neither have any visible issues with capacitors etc.

A recent fix of a 50" Sharp LCD LED was the replacement of the main board. I was told a common error: that TV refused to boot up though.

This one starts up. Just no picture.

The US model designation is: LC-70E735U

    Bad driver(s)? Sharp LED TV

So I recently fixed my first main board, I should say diagnosed and replaced, to get a 50" Sharp up and running again.

I've got my eye on another one that's acting up. I haven't gotten my hands on it yet. It's a gamble. But for a 5 year old tv that has seen little use at 70 inches I'm intrigued. I'm pretty sure these things divide the screen up into four sections on the LED driver side, is that right? I had 4 24v out's on the 50" and it's a similar model. Just a wild guess

It powers up fine, so for now that rules out power board issues, but only gives about a quarter of the screen and it's blue. Nothing else.

Could this be a driver issue? Happened one day to the next. No falls or anything like that, just boom: it's like this, see attachment.

It's not a lot to go on but any ideas? input? what to look for?

I can pull the back off and get relatively far with my DMM but untill then I'm looking to get as much info as possible on probable problems. A lot of p's there...

Sharp Aquos LC-70C6400U Half Screen Dark
    by scubacamper
I found another post on this site the other day which has been very helpful in troubleshooting this issue I am having with my tv. The left half of the screen is dark, and the other half is VERY slow to generate it's image - and it only generates part of its image at that.
Based on this yt video, I have narrowed it down to an issue (short?) on the left side of the display, somewhere in the system of ribbon cables.
when I remove the bezel and the rear cover, I can get the image to display correctly by manipulating the ribbon cables on the left side which connects the left lower display...

    Samsung UE55JU6800K half screen dark
    by Chrissygizmo
Hello everyone, I’ve just been given a Samsung UE55JU6800K smart tv as it had white spots on the screen due to the led lenses falling off. After refitting them & putting the tv back together I thought it was a nice easy fix for a free bedroom tv , then I tried it before screwing the back into place. I realised that the right side of the screen was darker than the other side, I removed the screen again as I thought the backlights had failed but they are fine.
I put the screen back in place & turned it back on . The screen seemed to be ok again but different screens on the same...

Sharp LC-70UD1U Half screen Normal half screen is white
    by Megan0
My Sharp LC-70UD1U Screen is black and flashing, "I attached the video"

Well, I opened the back cover and as you can see in the picture, I unplugged 2 L (left) ribbon, TV turned ON, but half of screen (Right) is normal, and the other side (Left) is white. I continued to test...
    Result:
I swapped the ribbons L<-->R = Blinking 2x power light, 5x timer light
    Unplugged 2 R Plug 2 L = Blinking 2x power light, 5x timer light
    Unplugged 2 L Plug 2 R = Blinking 2x power light, 5x timer light

Only in the first test, where I did not

Macbook 2017 with touchbar (A1706) won't turn on after removing the screen
    by Ryan.man
Hello everybody! Posting this in hopes somebody has some expertise that leads to a clear path of troubleshooting that saves me a lot of time!

My macbook has the flex cable problem, the one that prevents the screen turning on. Ive been dealing with this for the last 3 years. Last year it went dead and I managed to fix it following youtube tutorials. But my fix wasnt the best, the problem returned a month later. This week, it went dead again. I again tried to fix it.

This time the original cable broke too close to the screen, it can't be fixed without tearing the screen...

LG 55UH6150- trouble powering up, then half lit screen (pictures!)
    by valvashon
The 55" LG has been in the basement for a few months without being used. Turned it on yesterday, set came on as it should and showed a complete screen for about 5 seconds (was on a broadcast channel but no antenna was connected), then the screen went mostly dark with about 1/3 of the screen on the right lighting up with brighter lines in that lit part (sorry, no pictures of that). Power LED was cycling too, preventing the TV from fully powering up.
Pulled the back off, all boards looked OK. Pulled the LED connector, turned the set on to see if it would power up but I don't belive it...
