    LG PSU Troubles

Hey guys, I recently repaired an LG EAY60968701 PSU (it was only a cold solder joint on the transformer) everything was running fine but whilst testing the voltages I accidentally shorted the +17v rail to Ground pin next to it with the multi-meter probe.

There was a small spark and now the TV will not turn on, the relay just clicks. I have checked the the voltage and it displays the correct 17v for a split second right before the relay clicks off. Checked the caps, the P-channel Mosfet seems to be fine (not shorted) but I can't for the life of me find out what was damaged in the short.

I just need a nudge in the right direction of what components may have been damaged from the short of the 17v rail.

    Cheers, Jason

You can start by providing the good clear straight shot pictures of the whole top and bottom side of your board so we can see what we are dealing with.

No worries mate, I should have been more forward thinking and posted some initially, my apologies. I was unable to locate a schematic, would have been handy.

Certainly, they were over the max file size so I just quickly converted them with Foxit. Sorry for the inconvenience.

need to check all the component around the place you short the 17volts an open resistor perhaps or a toasted ic a schematic diagram would ease your hunt.

Hey mate, thank you for your diagram. I have checked extensively around the area and cannot find anything shorted or open that shouldn't be, i shorted the 17v rail right on the pin with the ground pin next to it if this helps.
                cheers, Jason

I have illustrated on the image where exactly I shorted the power rail, I have checked all resistors around the area and cannot find anything out of place. The board will still turn on for a second then click off, I'm not sure how to test that IC near it, I'm not sure if it could be damaged by something like that.
I'm really stumped on this one guys.

using the diagram can you illustrate to us where you short the 17v rail are you sure you short it on the ground or somewhere else. start there and replace all ic that is connected there happy hunting mate!

Panasonic TH-50PX8EA Black screen, only relay clicks
                      by Rensiee
                      Hello,
I have been reading a few threads on here regarding Panasonic plasma tv's. I've found one thread which explains the same problem as mine, unfortunately the thread has not been completed.
I got a free tv (TH-50PX8EA) from a friend which shows no screen. When plugged in only one red light shows up and when pushing the ON button, the red LED turns of and will only turn on again when pressing the ON button again.

When plugging in the TV i hear two relays click fast and after a few seconds the third relay clicks.
I have measured the voltage in the VSUS line, which...

Samsung LN46b530p7f – relay clicks and backlight cycling, sound OK
                      by momaka
I got this TV a little over a year ago from a coworker from my previous job. It’s a Samsung 46” TV, model number LN46b530p7f.

                      Problem:
                      Backlight cycles On and Off.
Basically, when the TV is turned On, there is a relay click heard from the TV PS board. The relay cycles On and Off 4 times in about 2-3 second intervals. Each of those 4 times, the backlights also cycle On and Off with the relay. The screen TFT isn’t cracked/damaged and appears to work - I can see a “no signal” image when the backlights turn On briefly – though the image is a bit dull/dark....

                      by samtron786
                      Hello
The red and green LEDs both light up and you can hear the relay click. (no picture, no backlight, no sound)
2-3 seconds later the relay will click again and only the red LED will stay on.

I would be very grateful for any advice or a little help.
                      circuit diagram?

                      Thanks very much

                      9V relay temperature 40C
                      by jm1234
Hi, I'm seeing one 9V relay having temperature 40C on its 9V (primary) side. Does that seem right? I switched 2 relays on that board and the temperature was the same (on the same position), so I'm sure it's not a faulty relay. I measured voltage on that relay and it was 9.5V DC, so that looks good. I don't see any other relay on that board having that kind of temperature and they have 9V on them too.
I thought maybe the transistor that is switching this relay keeps switching on/off, so I also checked for AC and there was almost none: 0.3V using mV range. No steady frequency was shown, but...

                      Hi everyone!
I have this board that suddenly stopped supplying power to an output that drives an interchanger cleaner motor.
I checked while the board was in place with all wires attached and there's no AC voltage on the corresponding plug X5
This X5 is driven by fuse F8 (tested OK) which comes from the second orange relay
To make sure there are no charcoaled contacts inside the relay, I got a 24VDC power supply and got it ready to manually power up the coil side of these relays.
I respected the polarity, positive to cathode of protecting diode
                      So provided all...
