    LG 42lh4000 no picture

    Hello,

    tv model LG 42lh4000

    mainboard EAX60686902 (0)
    t-con EAX58017201 (9)
    psu model EAX55357701/32 (rev 1.3)

The picture got dark from top right to bottom left while using and then it didn't show anything again. I can turn it on and the back light comes up, sound works, but no picture, OSD, ...

There's a soft hum (perhaps electric arc sound) around the two LIF42-inverters on the psu, but perhaps that's normal.

I tried to follow some material from LG Training Center for the 42LH50, but the 42LH4000 has some differences, e.g. there's no fuse or led on the t-con board.

    Thanks for your help!

LH series suffer from over heating T-CON IC which effect on the board PCB sandwich.

the noise you hear from PSU not normal. its overload at MB. try disconnect the panel totally from T-CON and check the noise. either see if you disconnect just one side ribbon cable between T-CON and panel did the panel come as half white screen

      Thanks for your reply!

      I tried the following:
      a) disconnected T-CON totally (from main and both side ribbon cables to panel)
      b) disconnected T-CON from both side ribbon cables to panel
      c) disconnected T-CON from left side ribbon cable to panel
      d) disconnected T-CON from right side ribbon cable to panel

a)-d) There's no difference of back light (white screen) and arc sound.

The arc sound starts some moments after booting the TV: White screen starts quite intensive, after some milliseconds gets less intensive (normally there should be the logo) and right this moment arc sounds starts.

if (d) its really half screen white then we do have issue at MB.
let start to measure the voltage from the socket at PSU to MB.. put yours DM black probe on the TV chassis and red probe on the pin of 20V then plug it on. notice yours DM measurement how it will read from start untill the buzzer noise come. same way do to the 12 volts pin.

Sorry, perhaps I was misunderstood - there is no half screen white -> a)-d) always full screen white.

I checked the voltage from the socket at PSU to MB:
          - Written on the PSU board it says 20 V, but I measured the following after pressing the turn on button: 22.1 V, drops to 21.6 V, stays there for a moment, than buzzer noise starts and it stays at 21.5 V.
          - 12 V: I measured 12.4 V the whole time.

upload photos please showing the screen how it look when you test options ( a and d ). to avoid any misunderstanding

T-con suspect issue. Both ribbon cables no picture. One ribbon cable ok. (58pus8545)
              by Tr0ll
Hi guys! I realized you have a lot of knowledge here so i am hoping you could point me in right direction with my odd issue.

The Tv is a Philips 58PUS8545/12, it had no picture but working backlights.

              Original T-con:
Opened the Tv and tested to unplug one ribbon cable at a time. With this test i could see that i got fine picture on both halves as long as there was only one ribbon cable connected, with two connected picture were gone.

              First replacement T-con:

I thought it might be t-con and ordered new t-con from china(supposedly tested)...

Sony KD-75XF9005 grey Picture but Sound. TCON or panel?
              by iglitare
              Hi,

i want to repair a Sony KD-75XF9005 TV that initially only showed a grey picture.
Backlight seems to work, Sound (Setup menu after reset) works.
If i dissconnect the left FFC cable from TCON to panel i have half a screen on the right. If left cable is connected always only the grey screen.
Interchanged the cables, its always only the right side that is working. Always grey if left side is connected.
With my small knowledge i would think at least the cables are good.

Can this happen because of a bad tcon board?
Or is it always a bad/shorted...

Samsung UE60KU6079 backlight okay mainboard responsive, no picture, no sound
              by Ierwin
              Hello everyone,
Ive got a UE60KU6079 on the workbench that is giving me some headaches trying to troubleshoot.
The previous owner stated that there had been white dots on the screen which from the description sounded like some lenses fell of the backlight LEDs.
He had opened the TV from the back, trying to get to the backlight, supposedly gave up, reassebled everything and gave the TV to me.
I expected the worst like ripped COF cables or a cracked panel but could not find anything like that yet.
Anyway I still fully expect that there has been something seriously damaged...

LG 82UN8570AUD ~ TCON or PANEL?
              by kca
              Hello all ~

Hope this finds you well. This LG 82UN8570AUD (April 2021 model) 4K UHD television has full audio capabilities but video is compromised / problematic.

When I picked up this large LG tv it had a full black screen upon startup. Previous owner said it just went black one day. No popping sound or anything else of note.

I got the display to work by taping off several traces of the right-hand side ribbon cable on the TCON that leads from TCON to PANEL. However, despite dozens and dozens of attempts to find the right combination / range of traces taped...

what i went through dealing with my mobo with dead onboard sound!
              by ChaosLegionnaire
so i took out one of my spare gigabyte ep35-ds3r mobos from storage for use to do some cpu, ram and video card testing of stuff i bought from ebay and got for free from momaka. he bought 50 e8400 cpus for cheap from ebay some years ago and i decided to help him relieve him of some of his supply since he had waaaay too many!! what did we say about hoarding too much stuff and depriving others of them?! *cough* socialism *cough* lol!

i had to blow some dust off the board and heatsinks with the datavac as i didnt clean it up before putting it in storage. after finishing...
