Panasonic P42VT30B fault - help to diagnose please.

Hi, a friend has offered me his old plasma TV as he's sick of dealing with a fault it has and has since purchased a new one. I'm looking for advice on the potential to repair as I could make use of it and i hate the thought of it being thrown away.

The fault is that once turned on, it turns itself off after a few seconds, then comes back on again. Apparently it can do this for around 5 minutes and then settles with no issues - stays on and functions correctly. Upon turning on at the tv, the power LED turns green and flashes (green) very fast for around 5-6 seconds, then turns solid and the TV comes on (normal picture) after around another 5 seconds it turns off and repeats the green quick flashing light cycle for a further 5-6 seconds and comes back on.

I am a mechanical engineer, a keen DIY'er, and not afraid of some soldering. With the correct instruction I can diagnose if i know where to point my multimeter.

Just so you are aware, i downloaded the service manual and looked up the information about the self diagnostic - indicating whats wrong from the number of red flashing LED's, but as i dont see any flashing red LED's. I also read that this series of TV's were prone to bad ground points due to lose screws oholding down the boards, which resulted in transistors overheating.

Hope someday be can help me or point me to some resources on the internet.

    Many thanks
    Jon

It could very well be poor grounds under the screws. Remove the SC & SS boards and inspect the solder around the screw holes where it connects to the chassis. If it looks black like it was arcing, cleaqn the black corrosion, you can also resolder the rings around the screw holes. and reinstall the boards making sure the screws are tight. Or replace the screws with ones that have lock washers on them.
If they look like this, that could be the problem

Post some good quality pictures of the boards

The TV starts, the LED lights blink for 2 seconds, and the TV turns off; I tested the voltages on the powerboard, and it looks ok.
Also, I could see HDM in the top corner for a second.

Is it possible that the issue is a bad LED light that forces the TV to turn off?

Lenovo Legion 5 high fan spin turns off after 34 seconds
      by twonk9098
      Hi all,

I have a Lenovo Legion 5 with a Ryzen 7 series CPU and RTX 3070 GPU. My issue is that it turns on and all seems fine except after a few seconds the fans spin up high and the laptop turns off after 34 seconds.
I can get into bios and can even boot and login to Windows however after 34 seconds no matter if Im at the bios screen or booted into Windows it will just turn off.

I have managed to run HWmonitor and the temperatures of the CPU and GPU are fine, I can also touch the heatsync which is warm but not hot.

I have tried a few new bios but exactly...

LG 23MP55HQ LED Monitor turns off after a few seconds or flickers.
      by Rick_1234
      Good evening, gentlemen.

I have a problem with my monitor. It turns off after a few seconds or flickers. Shining a flashlight on the screen doesn't show any image, so I guess it's not the "2 seconds to dark" I read in the forum.

To turn it back on, I have to press the power button twice. Then after a few seconds it turns off again or flickers. See video.

      Panasonic SA-MAX770PU SMPSU board fault....
      by Rictech
      Hello everyone. 😀

As per thread title, this unit has a serious SMPSU fault. It blows F1001, which is a 10A M205 in the phase from the mains input.
Very first thing I tried, was simply replacing the fuse, but the replacement ceramic fuse blew immediately.

Looking at the schematic for this PSU, I then removed what I thought was the next likely candidate: D1001 - the HV main bridge rectifier.
This isolated the fault(no longer blows the main fuse), but does not point me to the actual fault.
There are no devices that have exploded or otherwise show signs...
