ok... the fact that you never get anything from either side, to me, indicates "no signal" arriving at the panel. I would lean / focus on the main board. You can find "block diagrams" for the main board to identify some of the required voltages that need to be there. You may have to wonder around and look for lower model numbers as the manuals may be listed by "family" not by specific model numbers.

As for firmware, my limited experience with a couple of sharps is that you can plug in the firmware / usb and power up and the set will recognize the usb / firmware IF things are correct (format / name / etc) and attempt to load the firmware.... IF you have a stick with a led indicator, it will flash with the working effort until it is done.

maybe try to force on the set thru this sequence.
While holding down the “VOL (–)” and “INPUT” keys at a time, plug in the AC cord of the main unit to turn on the power.
The letter “<K>” appears on the screen.
Next, hold down the “VOL (–)” and “CH ( )” keys at a time.
(The “VOL (–)” and “CH ( )” keys should be pressed and held until the display appears.)

Normally, these kind of sequences would be used if there was some kind of flash code preventing the set to start... but maybe it will force some type of display... you never know. It certainly won't hurt.

Thanks.. I ordered a main board for this (in light of not having the Optical out lit while on), and I'll update you on what I find.

      Firmware update - no go
      Reset - no go
possible indication that the main board is not quite functional
      Thanks again

A new main board arrived last night - and it resulted in flashing (since it seems it was pulled from a TV with bad edge light) - I entered the service menu, and cleared the Lamp errors and now TV works beautifully... Thanks again for the help.

Driving a Sharp TCON/panel with a universal main board
            by advant
This thread is about trying to get an Universal Main Board to work with a Sharp TCON and panel.

I have a Sharp LC-46D85UN TV that has had a main board issue. Since this model is from 2009, I am not able to find an exact replacement of the main board. Instead, I decided to see if I can future proof this tv by getting a Universal Main Board (T53U21.2) from China to work with the Sharp TCON (CPWBX4291TPZA) and panel. The universal main board supports a 8 bit dual channel LVDS interface whereas the TCON requires a 10 bit dual channel LVDS input. I have modded the LVDS connector to match...

Sharp LC-52E77UN TCON activation WITHOUT motherboard. I2C reverse engineering help?
            by moltensolderlabs
Hi everyone. [Sorry for the long, detailed post in advance].

I have a Sharp LC-52E77UN which randomly shuts down--could be within 15 minutes, could be 40 minutes, over 1 hour, it's unpredictable. From reading the service manual, I was able to get into service mode (where the K is displayed), and found the following error flag toggled: "04 Initial Communication Error 4 -- Error reason: To the communication setting reception," which, from contacting an eBay TV repair store, I was told is caused NOT by a bad TCON (which was my first guess), but rather the motherboard....

TCL 50S535 bad tcon or panel issue?
            by x_orange90_x
Just bought this for 10 bucks yesterday hoping to fix it. The guy said water dropped inside from a dehumidifier hose and it started showing black and white vertical bars then went blank. When I got it home and turned it on it came on fine and displayed correctly but I was noticing faint vertical bars in the image. After a little bit I turned it off and back on and it was a black screen again. I opened it up to check for water damage and corrosion but didn't find anything of the sort. I cleaned the ribbons anyway and reconnected them but still got a blank screen. If I disconnect the right side...

LG OLED77G1PUA - No Video / Audio after a TCON Board change and Software Update
            by Hakuu
            Hi There,

This TV was auto switching off after few seconds with some vertical lines on the screen, so got a new TCON board and replaced it.

After replacing the TCON board it was working fine and i set it up with everything, used for few hours, then had the bright idea to update the software on it. During the update process, TV switched off and now no audio or video. No relay switch sound.

Got the same exact TCON board from TVPartsToday and replaced it. But didnt transfer the EPPROM data (didnt...

Sony 8K XBR-75Z8H White Screen Vertical Bars Tcon Code. Help Needed🙏
            by Daren87
            Hello everyone,

I've recently been given a Sony 8k Z8H. It's got a white screen with two vertical black bars. At times it's given me the 5 blink Tcon code. Testing voltage on the Tcon I can see some low or missing voltage. I've done a basic visual check of cables and the COF. Not seeing anything obvious. The original Tcon seemed to have good caps until turning it over. On the bottom I found maybe 10 caps with both sides of the caps shorting to ground. I thought ok these caps and likely other components on the Tcon are shorted so let's try a replacement Tcon. I just received the...
