    LG 55LB5800 Doesn't Boot

Bought this TV expecting bad LED backlights but it appears to have firmware issues. When turned on the logo displays for about 10 seconds with the backlight on with the front LED flashing before turning off again. Guessing corrupt firmware or bad eeprom. Have a LG service remote and tried pressing INSTOP which should do a factory reset but doesn't seem to accept remote inputs when attempting to turn on. No firmware can be found online either. Also tried holding down the power button during turn on.

Any suggestions before I buy a new main board? Can try looking for the flash IC and freezing it but haven't pulled the back cover off yet to confirm the main board part number. Found some sites with the main board for around $130 and one ebay seller that wants $250.

Was curious with what LG oneprice charges for repair and it was $390 which is more than the value of the TV.

try 55lB6100 main board (cheaper) I've had good luck swapping between different 55LBXX mains with different tcons and LCD panels. I may even have a main board you could try if you are interested.

55LB5800 appears to be a Canadian model so very limited supply. Ebay shows lots of LB6100 main boards and reasonably priced. Thanks for the tip. Just ordered one on ebay.

I should have added this: just check to make sure the wifi and button connectors on the 6100 model are the same as the one on yours(some have flat style, some have older double stacked style). Let me know if that ends up being an issue, I have lots of both types and they are interchangeable for the most part too.

My 55LB6100 main board (paid $45 USD) came in and tv is working fine. Looks like the latest firmware sets the default picture mode to Auto Power Save (75% backlight) though Standard mode is still at 100% backlight. Also apps default to Standard mode and 100% backlight and you can only access the modified settings menu with the Q.Menu remote button.
