Sony XBR-55X900C on for a few seconds then off.

    1-894-595-12 - main board

    XBR-55X900C - model

Working on this Sony. Starts to turn on, animated logo runs for maybe 2-4 seconds, freezes, tv turns off. Sometimes relay clicks off then back on. Cycles indefinitely.

Nothing on board getting abnormally hot.

5v on USB will turn off with cycle as expected.

power on signal between PSU and main board will drop from 3.55 to 3.49 (odd drop in my opinion). Not sure if significant. I would think 3v or 0V. Holding it at 3.55 with external supply changes nothing.

Anyone know what actually controls the main board into the on/running state? There is a PIC16 on the board, but i cant find anything in the way of documentation as to what it is doing. It has 2 transistors connected to it. I moved both out of circuit with no change in condition.

I know others with this exact condition have replaced the main board and that worked, but if anyone has any ideas as to what may be the cause, i would much rather repair and document the failure vs just putting a board in it.

Re: Sony XBR-55X900C on for a few seconds then off.

I had this model in several times and after every attempt to do a component level repair on these main boards I have failed including the 65" main board version. XBR stands for Xtra Brain Rack because the Main boards are overkill and usually have decent chipsets making them harder to diagnose. By the time I got numbers off components, checked their specs, run traces, and start probing I slowly lose hope. If it's your personal Tv and you have plenty of time on your hands go for it and please let us know what you found. If we have a customer waiting then a fresh main board with a new firmware installed when we get then new main then it usually ends the boot looping power cycling, installs the new firmware and turns off then on and instructs you to take out the usb when firmware install is finished. Very nice picture too.

Got a new board. now the tv powers on. Nothing on screen at first, plays some weird music for a while. does nothing then goes to sleep (?)

Put newest firmware on a usb drive and put it in. blinked green and amber for a while. changed to slowly pulling white and oddly started cycling through colors on the screen. left it alone for 20 minutes at least. went to sleep again.

hit power button, back to color cycle.

Never an indication on screen of a firmware update happening.

I dont do a ton of sonys, is a human sacrifice required?

        Nevermind. Got it.

If at first you dont succeed, do the exact same thing again, and for some reason it will work the second time.

          Sony xbr-65x900c main board issues?
          by jb_Bak
Hey guys great forum glad to have found it. I bought a Sony XBR 65X900C cheaply because it didn't work. No signs of life at all not even a light/led. All I hear is a brief high voltage sound when I throw the power to it.

Didn't see any obvious signs of damage so right away started checking voltages. This is what I see:
Power Board Connector that goes to Main board
          CN6401
          Pin 01 NC
          Pin 02 NC
          Pin 03 "BL_ON": 0V
          Pin 04 "N/C"
          Pin 05 "STBY 3.3V": 3.5V
          Pin 06 "GND": N/C
          Pin 07 "AC_OFF"...

          by Dani_2024
Hi and thanks in advance for any input you might provide!
I have a Sceptre U550CV-UMRD8POTV83BB 4K LED (this is a dumb tv) that I bought new in August 2021, so It's just completed 3 years.
Main power board model: TP.MS3683.PC821 T-Con board: N4TP546UHDPU2L_BO

Last Sunday I was watching a dvd and fell asleep for about half hour, when I awoke the tv screen was black and couldn't get the dvd menu to show, so I changed the input to antenna and had sound but no picture, turned it off. I then got online and found this great site! ....read many troubleshooting tips and this...

LG 55NANO77SRA TV – Menu scrolling by itself even after removing button board (Main Board EBU66792103)
          by ygorsan
          Hi everyone,

I’m looking for help with a persistent issue on an LG TV model 55NANO77SRA, which uses the main board EBU66792103 (also used in LG UQ80 and NANO75/NANO80 series).

          🧩 Problem Summary:
          • The TV keeps scrolling through the menu or selecting items by itself.
          • I removed the physical button board (the entire panel with power and volume buttons) and also disconnected the flat cable (CN202) from the main board.
          • The remote control is not in use (batteries removed), and the TV still shows the same behavior.

(SOLVED) - ONN 100012588 No Power, Then Rebooting After Main Board Change
          by JDC
          ONN 100012588
Issue: No Power, Then Rebooting After Main Board Change

Short answer: replace main board and power board
Technical answer: replace main board and Q306 & Q307 on power board.

          Long answer:

TV wouldn't turn on. Power switch was fine which means the main board isn't processing the power on signal. Replaced main board. TV turns on now but randomly reboots. Bad main board? EEPROM? Tried to pull main board and got a shock touching the corner of the board. That's weird. C334 (450V 10uf) capacitor is still holding a high charge....

Is it possible to upgrade from a Vestel 17MB97 main board to a 17MB110 Main board?
          by cheeky2
I suppose the real question is whether the existing pinouts from ether a 17IPS71 psu are cross compatible with a 17IPS12 psu? If they are then the exchange of the main boards should have no issues providing the screen is compatible with both main boards. Obviously you can change the screen configurations easily enough (providing you have the correct files) for the main board. Why may you ask would I do this? Well a lot of the smart features are no longer working on a Hitachi 48HBT62U main board I wish to give it a new lease of life!
Obviously the same LVDS connector for the screen connection...
