Hi All
Firstly my treatment has been delayed for four weeks due to low blood count the consultant said not to worry as this is common following chemotherapy.
So have a bit more time while waiting.
So having a look at this TV for a friend to keep myself busy!!
Now i am aware that this model have a very poor design LCD panel and when i informed my friend he said to keep TV .
The display shows half a picture and a poor half at that. Now i have tried a T-Con replacement board just in case it was faulty but the same issue. Now i know it is more than likely the LCD panel that is faulty as i have stripped the TV down to gain access to the tabs connected to the panel to make sure non had come loose or were burnt and all seemed ok, but one of the tabs on the end the driver chip seated in the middle of the tab gets very hot at switch on i mean really hot all the other tabs just get warm.
So here are my questions ?
1 would the fault be the driver chip on the tab or from a short in the lcd panel?
2 If it is the driver on the tab what are the chances of replacing one of these tabs ?
3 And where could you get one of these tabs if this was the issue ?
4 Has any one had any success in changing one of these tabs ?
I have seen some video's on YouTube where some people have changed them using a hot plate on soldering iron ? not sure whether i could carry this operation out but just curious ?
The cheapest panel i have seen for this model was £90.00 and it was collection only and a two and a half hour drive not to mention the cost of fuel as well so would not be worth the repair.
Any thoughts on this ?
