    Sony KDL 40v5100

    Hey everyone! I have this set here and the symptom is, the set will shut down after about an hour or so, sometimes giving three blinks of the red standby LED. I know what the code is for three blinks, so I went into the service menu, and under diagnostics is an error under DC Alert, nothing else. I have checked extensively for cold solder joints, and for bad caps with an ESR meter. Nothing jumps out at me.

    When the set is running all of the voltages are normal and well within tolerance. When it shuts down, all of the regulators are shut down as well, 12v, 15v, 3.3v stby. Makes it tricky to pin down the cause easily for sure.

    I've yet to find any specific info on this specific model/common failures, etc. I downloaded the service manual, thanks to this forum, which I am looking at now. Does anyone have any pointers for me?

    Will the set switch back on immediately after it shuts down or does it need to cool down first. If so, perhaps you can use freezer spray to isolate the area on the circuit board that will allow it to switch on sooner.
    Willing to help but I'm no expert.

      Sony XR-55X90J 5 blinks
      by matwan
      Hello,

      I have problem with SONY 55X90J. After several check status is as below;
      1. Running power board as stand alone:

      TCON_12V =~ 12.6V
      EVDD V On Max 24V= 19V.

      2.
      Running power board with TCON as stand alone:

      Effect as below, attched.

      3. When bottom LVDS cable is disconnected no blinks, but of course no TCON 12V and EVDD.
      "I'm almost sure it's a defective panel, but maybe someone has encountered a similar issue on their screen.

      Best regards....

      Sony XBR-75X940E intermittent 6 blinks error code
      by GoodCapDude
      Hi everyone. First post on Badcaps!

      I am trying to fix a Sony 940E from 2017 that either starts normally (and works perfectly until turned off) or goes straight to the 6 blinks error code without showing anything on the screen. It is frustrating to know that it can still work perfectly but is barely usable because of the difficulty starting it up. I am willing to try to short the BL_ERR but I would like to avoid that if possible. Does anyone have a view on this? Thanks a lot....

      Sony KD-65A1 Repair – 4 Red Blinks Error
      by AK_777
      Hi everyone!
      I have a Sony KD-65A1 TV with a fault – 4 red LED blinks. After disassembly and visual inspection, I found that the G76 power board and DKA board had been replaced. It is also possible that TCON was replaced, but I am not sure – there are a few marker marks that could be factory-made.

      Based on assumptions, the previous service attempted to solve the issue by replacing potentially faulty components. I decided to investigate further, found a service manual, and figured out a way to power up the power supply unit autonomously and put the OLED panel and...

      Sony A1e 5-blinks help
      by jchon
      Hi I'm new to trying to repair TVs, but I saw a broken OLED offered for a reasonable price and thought I'd try my hand at it.

      I found the service manual, which was critical to know where to probe.
      https://www.manualslib.com/manual/20...1e-Series.html

      With it I was able to determine that my DKA board was bad, when P_ON#1/2 gets enabled REG_12 on the DKA board collapses. I'm assuming one of the downstream regulators has a short, but I couldn't work out which rail/component and replaced the DKA board entirely.

      Unfortunately the 5-blinks...

      Sony XBR-65X850D 2 Red Blinks
      by Nicktronic
      Hi all,

      I have the subject TV and it will work normally sometimes but suddenly go black and give the 2 red blinks blink code. When this happens, I check the power supply board voltages and all I have is the Standby 3.3V and BL_ERR 2.2V. When it's working normally, all power supply board voltages look normal and stable. I've checked the backlights with a tester and they all test good. I've also read that the 2 red blinks is a faulty power supply board, so could it be throwing up an erroneous BL_ERR?

      Any Sony experts out there that can help??...
