LG 42LG3000-ZA repair, doesn’t tune Digital TV, fixed

This 2008 LCD TV doesn't tune digital TV channels, but customer says that it eventually worked after heating up. This delay got longer and longer until it became unusable.

I suspect of TDFV-G135D tuner (flat encephalogram mode). I replace it and problem doesn't improve. I try to heat Main PCB with heat gun and eventually DTV comes and goes when I heat certain SMD caps. Check ESR and many of them are really high, specially 100uF/16V ones. This could also be detected with oscilloscope, but I didn't try first. Voltages show up blurry, with high frequency noise, instead of a sharp line. I replace all 100uF/16V SMD caps related to regulators for +1.8V_TU, +3.3V_TU and +5V_TU (see available schematic at ET for registred users), and it works again even from cold state.

I've seen this same problem in LG DVD recorders from same production year. These SMD caps are aging fast and will cause a lot of trouble. They're hard to remove without damaging tracks.

I have never looked into the respective components your post concerns, but what I will say is that this TV is one that I have had the longest relationship with. I Currently have one and a half, and am stuck between creating a concept TV, with extended ribbons/cables enabling me to house everything in a separate, slightly cooler area, or just selling the boards.

If you're in the UK I am happy to send you what you need.

      I perhaps didn't read correctly.
      Well Done on the repair.

Thanks, no problem, Braderz. I generally post solved cases.

Good job on the repair. What tool do you use to check the esr of the caps? Do you remove them from the circuit and then test? I used those cheap esr meters you can buy on ebay, but after some time they fail and im looking for a better tool. Thanks

            I use EVB ESR meter:

            http://clientes.netvisao.pt/greenpal/evb1.htm

This one has even resisted a 230V AC accidental contact, with minimal repair.

I check first in circuit. It’s not a precise reading but at least gives a hint on suspicious elements. Impossible to remove SMD caps just for testing. Once removed, they’re gone.

Roland KR-3500/4500 Digital Piano. Crackling audio sound on all keys -Fixed
              by i_am_patch
Hi All. I had a Roland KR-3500 Digital Piano (similar to the KR-4500) that exhibited a Crackling audio sound on all keys. After reading somewhere about someone with a similar issue who had replaced all the Electrolytic caps I decided to also go down that route. (Spoiler : It worked !) After some basic troubleshooting I determined that it could be noise feeding thru from the Keyboard scanning since the Demo tunes played back undistorted and the Audio amp / speakers were fine ( Inserted an Audio signal into the rear Audio input). After extracting the main board from the shield, I replaced 7 Capacitors...

Lenovo y520-15ikbm most of the time doesn't turn on
              by melvinvdb
              Hello,

I've repaired a few laptops in my life but this time my own laptop died😂.
Funny enough this one is a bit tough on me.
It doesn't turn on (most of the time).
              Model: Lenovo y520-15ikbm (NM-391).

The only way to make it turn on is:
              1) unplug battery + charger + rtc (seems irrelevant)
              2) wait a minute
              3) plug battery/charger in
              4) on charger plugin, laptop turns on by itself. On battery plugin you have to press power button. Sometimes nothing happens and you have to try again.
              5) when it turns on it also displays POST...

Sony STR-DE445 did I get a faulty IC?
              by goodpsusearch
Hello, I got this AVR for cheap and tried to fix it as a fun and learning project.

First the audio video receiver would turn on but had no sound at all, but no "PROTECT" message.

So, I opened the metal case and noticed some marks showing that some liquid has been spilled on the amp. Those water marks were found on the main board and the digital board.

I disassembled everything, then checked every single cap on every board of the amp and recapped when needed.

Also fixed A LOT of cold solder joints and also done some modifications,...

              ASRock B560 Pro4 doesn't start
              by johnnys25s
              Hy there.
I have a ASRock b560 Pro4 MoBo that doesn't power up anymore after CPU swap. I used (my) CPU to test another (broken) board and after put it back, my board doesn't start. I've tested that CPU again but it's ok. I even bought another one for testing. I also have 2 PSU for tests. NO bent pins and no mechanical damage.
I have different voltages on the board (in some places) but it doesn't start, at all.
I have the schematic but I don't know what to do exactly with it. I have some skills and I can measure things. I need help to try to repair it. Thank you.

              Thinkpad T490 doesn't detect NVME
              by pandrew
I have a Thinkpad T490 (NM-B901 Rev 1.0) that cannot detect an NVME M.2 SSD,
but it works fine with a SATA M.2 SSD.

When connecting an NVME M.2 SSD I get while booting:
"2101: Detection error on HDD0 (Main HDD)"

I can continue and boot a live linux distro from a USB stick, but it doesn't show up in lspci,
and I don't notice any relevant error messages in dmesg.

I have tried two different M.2 NVME SSDs (both working fine on a different machine),
and the behavior is the same.

I am pretty sure that all the important...
