    Adding fans to Panasonic Plasma

    Hi,

Recently replaced SC and surrounding boards on a Panasonic TC-P42X1 due to standard 7-blink failure code. There are no cooling fans on that model. Searched the forum for a mod to add them, but didn't find one. Forgive me if I didn't look hard enough, but does anyone have any suggestions on how to do that. I have quite a few quiet computer case fans. Zip ties and a separate power supply blowing in maybe?

    Thanks,

    John

Yes you have all the required components to install fans in your PLASMA. I always add a gratis fan to my PLASMA jobs. Just make sure and set the air direction to extract hot air from the TV. I would normally take the 12-17Vdc from the PSU pin to close a relay that will turn on the fan, supplied with power from a small 12V SMPS.

Sorry I didn't get back to this earlier. Forgive my manners.
      Thanks for the suggestion Andrew

Re: Adding fans to Panasonic Plasma

I added a fan to my TC-P42S30 after the SC board repair.

The fan is powered off the F_15V line with a resistor that dropped voltage to 7V. This provides sufficient airflow whilst not being extraordinarily loud. I tapped off the 15V supply to the SC board so it would only be active when the panel was on.

Re: Adding fans to Panasonic Plasma

I often use the 5V powersupply which is normally strong enough (enough current capability to run a few extra fans) or indeed a 12-15V supply with some resistors. Not all 12V fans will run, or better not start up of off 5V.

I use old computer-/server-fans, not really quiet ones, so I need to drop the voltage more to get them to an acceptable soundlevel compared to new quieter fans

Two of my examples. In no way a perfect solution, but it may help to get ideas.

A 60" plasma, never used them until a fault reappeared and the fault wasn't solved by the extra cooling.

I did use a plug so the backplate can still be totally detached.

42" plasma, known for overheating issues. So that is why I put them on the heatsinks themselves. Loads more work than the 60"above. They have several speed settings and it is a WII/XBOX monitor, so noise isn't that much of an issue.

          Link to moving gif.
It won't show correctly when linking it as a pic and sorry about the speed being a bit high. Made this years ago and wouldn't know where to find the original pics...

            Panasonic plasma TX-P42ST50 - 6 blinks
            by jm1234
            Hi,
anyone able to provide the service manual for old plasma Panasonic TX-P42ST50E?
It turns off almost immediately (0~5 seconds after pressing the on/off button) and starts flashing the red diode 6 times.
I disconnected the left-hand side board (SC?, both the ribbon cable and the power cable to it) and also another ribbon going to bottom left board. Then the led signal is 8 flashes. According to service guide to another Panasonic plasma it would mean the left-hand side board is faulty. But I'm not sure it 100% applies to my model.
I checked that board for any obvious faults...

            Hi everyone!
I happened several times, in the search for help from the web, to consult this very interesting forum.
So I decided to sign up and I intend to participate actively by making available my knowledge and experience on the subject, I'm a new user but at the same time I'm old in the sense that I have 4 decades of experience in repairing and designing electronics but above all I'm a great passionate about the subject.

Having said that I come to the gist of my post on the forum as the title suggests.
For my passion for technology I'm now collecting several...

Panasonic Plasma TH-50PZ85U No screen No blinks on red power light
            by Alicat
            Hello,

Stopped by this site trying to fix my parents Panasonic Plasma TV.

            Model number is TH-50PZ85U

Power comes on and the red power light stays on solid.

Did a few checks like hold the power button on for 60 seconds, hold the - Volume while holding the menu button, no luck, still@ blank grey screen as the screen lights up very vague.

I also hear a few clicks.

I also think my parents said there was a thunderstorm and the TV failed after that.

Section 6 in the service manual talks about power and no screen,...

Panasonic P42S30 Plasma - Pink sparkles
            by Lintesir
My parents' Panasonic P42S30 died recently, and they asked me to have a look at it. I was able to identify the SN-board as the culprit, as it was shorted. After removing Q401, Q402, Q421 and Q422 the short was gone, so I replaced these components and that got the TV working again. However, when testing the tv a bit, I noticed quite bad pinkish sparkles on some colors. For instance the greyish bar on this forum seems to trigger it quite badly. I made a fullscreen test picture with only that color, with the below result.

There is about a 5cm high region at the top without any sparkles,...

RTX3090 working fine but fans not spinning
            by emil_t
Hello guys. I have a problem with a PNY XLR8 GAMING RTX3090 graphics card. The problem is that it displays and works fine, but the fans don't spin at all. The problem occurred when someone else removed the fans in order to clean it and broke one of the fan connectors. He replaced it himself and after that, it wasn't working anymore. I guess he damaged something else in the process. What i have done so far: I found 2 capacitors next to the connector that were in a bad shape, he must have touched them with his tools - they weren't shorted, but i replaced them with similar ones from a similar card....
