    SAMSUNG LA32C350D1 No Sound on HDMI

    Hi guys,

    I have an old Samsung LA32C350D1 Lcd that has sound viewing RF reception, but no sound when viewing HDMI.

    I have had other model Samsungs with the same problem, but they just required going to the 'anynet' settings in the menu. (I cant remember the actual change I made). However this set doesnt have the 'anynet' settings in the menu.

    So I'm guessing this is not just a setting, but a fault. Could somebody please help. I've have included a photo of the main board

      Did you try a factory reset?

          Hi Capleaker, yes, sorry I should have said so. I also tried shorting pins 5 & 6 on the two eeproms I could see hoping for a wipe of the eeprom but no joy. (this technique has never shown results for me?). In the meantime the local agents list the main board as no longer available.

              Did you try a known to be good HDMI cable and maybe a different HDMI source you know that works?

                  Yes, the blue ray player with hdmi output was used on other sets in workshop, and worked fine.

                      That just about leaves only the software or the main ic.

                          Yes, not what I was hoping for. Had hoped for a fix via the factory settings.
                          I don't have an eeprom programmer, and am doubtful of sending the set to the local agents. They would just quote for a new board, which is most probably no longer available locally.

                          The TV is in a shitty condition, and the owner indicated not wanting to spend too much on the repair. It's an oldish Lcd and wonder if the effort would be worth it? Bit of a defeatist attitude, but don't want it coming back months later with other issue's. So to play it safe, and possibly save the customer some money in the long run, I'm just going to return it not repaired. Thanks the input.

                          OH Lastly, what is the difference between memory on a usb stick, and memory which either comes preloaded on the eeprom, or that which gets down loaded & written to the eeprom?

                              But the factory reset was made in service menu or user one?

                                  Hi all

                                  I was just given a Samsung TV with the issue. I read various threads and videos and attempted the ribbon tape method to gain an image, but no luck.



                                  Symptom:
                                  No picture no sound.
                                  When I plug in the power cord, Backlight LED turns on for a half second and then turns off. The red LED next to the power button located center bottom flashes 2 or 3 times. When the power button is pressed after, it does the same thing.
                                  No sound at all.



                                  What I tried:
                                  1. I tried unplugging the left or right ribbon...

                                  so i took out one of my spare gigabyte ep35-ds3r mobos from storage for use to do some cpu, ram and video card testing of stuff i bought from ebay and got for free from momaka. he bought 50 e8400 cpus for cheap from ebay some years ago and i decided to help him relieve him of some of his supply since he had waaaay too many!! what did we say about hoarding too much stuff and depriving others of them?! *cough* socialism *cough* lol!

                                  i had to blow some dust off the board and heatsinks with the datavac as i didnt clean it up before putting it in storage. after finishing...

                                  Not all TVs can handle surround sound on a HDMI input

                                  With a home theatre PC connected to a TV via HDMI, Windows reveals that the TV only supports stereo sound even though the TV has a HDMI ARC connection to an AV receiver which is powered on; I also had an issue that the AV receiver does not always retain the input setting for routing the HTPC video through to the TV in standby.
                                  So I connected a second HDMI cable to the HTPC and set it to duplicate the video outputs, but I had random audio dropouts when playing content with surround sound being passed to the AV receiver (dropouts did not occur when I replayed the content where it dropped...
