    Sharp Aquos TV LC-60LE644U

I have a Sharp Aquos TV LC-60LE644U for the past 6 months I have noticed that almost every few nights after the TV has been on for a little the screen would turn green/multicolor or just freezes and have a high pitched screeching sound before it turns off. Some times it turns right back on, other times it needs to sit for 5-10 min before it will restart. The last time it happened it wouldn't turn on for a few days. I get a red standby light on the front of the TV. I checked the outlet and power supply, I have standby voltage on the power supply (5V) both 12v wires give 12v. How can I tell if its the main board (NQP890M0005N00) or the Power Supply? I found the service manual and I was not sure what to test first. I attached a few photos of the boards.

    Any advice is appreciated thanks!

Sounds like mainboard failure. Ot locks up due to bad connections under the main processor or may be RAM related. Either way, replace the mainboard and you'll be back in business.
Did I leave the soldering iron on?

my bet is a bad main board. I also suspect bad solders under the main IC.

Nice to see people fixing these Aquos TV's...they sure have a nice picture and a real hot OTA tuner.

Update. TV started working randomly for a year then just stopped again. This time no picture but sound works fine. Have a blue glow to the tv so I assume that’s the back light. Sometimes it will turn on but have a constant humming buzzing sound. Will stay on till we turn it off then won’t get a picture again for a few days. I couldn’t find a main board to purchase. Anyone know where I can buy one if you think that’s still the issue?

Take the mainboard out and check for cold/bad/cracked solder joints on the bottom side, look closely, sometimes they look good but can still be bad or loose.

Maybe check tcon fuse F101, see if you have about 12 volts on each side of fuse, neg. - probe on chassis ground, pos. + probe on each side of fuse.

Could try heating with a hairdryer or cooling with freezespray/inverted can of duster, U3 on FRC board, smaller board next to mainboard, wait about 15 seconds, plug tv in and see if it works even for a bit.

When tv was working was there any horizontal lines __ __ on the display? Did you try having one ribbon cable at a time disconnected from tcon to panel, then power up and see what you get on display, ALWAYS unplug tv power before disconnect any cables then plug power in after unplug connector. Meaning don't unplug any connectors while power cord is plugged in because the standby is always working and you don't want to accidentally mess anything up with a power surge or any other electrical gremlin type thing.

Don't know if it will do the trick but there's a tcon, sometimes sound and no video is a tcon issue, as always make sure it's a match if you buy it: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Element-RUN...0AAOSw~NBdQ0LK

                      by Tynan Dill
I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                      Assuming...

Desoldering gun station modified to use a 18 volt @ 20 amp switching power supply
                      by sam_sam_sam
I have wanting to do this project for quite sometime now and I finally found a switching power supply that will work on this desoldering gun station ZD-915 that the original switching power supply took a shit and just was not worth trying to fix it because this switching power is not quite big enough to handle the heater element and the vacuum pump

One note when I tested the switching power supply and the voltage control board I noticed that this desoldering gun heat up much faster than the original switching power supply which I was really surprised by to the point that I might buy...

Sharp Aquos LC-70C6400U Half Screen Dark
                      by scubacamper
I found another post on this site the other day which has been very helpful in troubleshooting this issue I am having with my tv. The left half of the screen is dark, and the other half is VERY slow to generate it's image - and it only generates part of its image at that.
Based on this yt video, I have narrowed it down to an issue (short?) on the left side of the display, somewhere in the system of ribbon cables.
when I remove the bezel and the rear cover, I can get the image to display correctly by manipulating the ribbon cables on the left side which connects the left lower display...

Modification to a ZD-987 desoldering/soldering station using a external switching power supply
                      by sam_sam_sam
I have been working on this concept for quite some time now with limited success but recently I found a switching power supply that is setup for the voltage that this soldering station needs to operate at however it also needs part of the secondary circuit from the original switching power because you need several voltage rails

I once tried to get a ZD-915 desoldering station to work on a 18 volt battery power supply but unfortunately things did not go well but I did find a work around but I might try this idea again but going at a little differently more about this another time...

                      Won't stay powered on - Sharp LC52LE700UN with RDENCA336WJQZ DPS-286AP power supply
                      by timtrace
Greetings - first post. I'm awed that a forum like this exists. It's a dream come true. I'm not even kidding.

I've got a 13 year-old Sharp LC52LE700UN television that's developed a problem of powering itself off after 30-45 seconds. If I pull the mains cord and reconnect, it will come back on right away without so much as a button push...then turn off after 30-45 seconds.

Service manual S37X3LC46E77U is attached to this post, as well as a front and a back picture of the RDENCA336WJQZ DPS-286AP power supply taken after completing my work.

                      Each time that the...
