If you disconnect the IR board will the side buttons work?

Same thing with my son's Vizio remote.

Panel volume down makes it go up. Other than that, I think the panel buttons work.

And it's any button on the Roku makes volume go up (at least the directional arrow buttons). We've had the Roku for about 2 weeks, this just started yesterday.

I'll try another remote in the morning and see if it also has the same effect.

So, this TV is acting strangely since yesterday. Pressing volume down on the remote makes it go down one and then back up one. if you hold vol - it will go down. Pressing any button on the Roku remote makes the volume go up. I tried to do a factory reset but every press of the remote makes the cursor move two spots so I couldn't even get to factory reset. Tried unplugging, no luck. It's my girlfriend's TV and since she took it out of storage in October, the vol- button on the TV would make the volume go up. Also, no luck doing a reset from the buttons because of that. I've had TVs in the past with no response to remotes, and also ones with source or menu constantly flashing which turned out to be corrupted eeproms. Does this sound like an eeprom issue? I haven't opened it up yet, I'll probably do that tomorrow.

Vizio D65x-G4 Volume changes on its own
    by karthur
On this Vizio D65x, the volume will change on its own. I don't mean like during commercials where the volume will increase. I mean its like the (+) volume button on the remote is pressed and the actual volume dialog is displayed on the screen going up. It will do this, then the volume may start going down. It might go all the way to "0"or it might stop at a different number, then start going back up. The whole time its doing this, the volume dialog is shown on the screen.

It wont do it until it has been "ON" for 20 or 30 minutes, so it does seem to be heat related....

Sony HCD-HX80R Amplifier Volume Control Problem
    by crackedprint
I have a strange fault on a Sony amplifier. The volume control varies the display from MIN, then 1 up to 30 and then MAX as expected. At MIN there is no sound. However, at 1 it is quite loud and increasing above 1 does not change the sound level.

I have tried a Cold Reset as per the service manual.

I have looked at the I2C clock and data to volume control chip IC501 (BD3499FV). Data is only sent to IC501 when the volume is set to MIN or 1. At any other setting no data is sent to IC501.

I have looked all the way through the service manual and tried many online...

Marantz SR5007 popping on volume change and mute in Direct Mode
    by BigOof
    Hi,

I bought a used Marantz SR5007 and it's giving me some issues that I can't seem to really place. It functions well in most settings, ARC mostly works, it has no issues driving my speakers in any of the digital input modes, but I'm having issues running analog inputs in direct or pure direct mode. For some reason in this mode there's distortion for every volume increment I give it, but once the volume is stable it has no issues. Muting creates a loud pop, switching to another source also causes a pop and so does turning off the amp in that mode. Again, no issue in the digital modes....

Samsung Soundbar Q900T Cuts Off if Volume above 30
    by Storyteller12
I have this soundbar and when I turn it on it works until I turn the volume above 30.
Then the display show “PROT” protection and shuts off.

I can turn it right back on and it works until volume hits 30 again.

There is a little static on the surround speakers so I unplugged them but still have same problem. I tried unplugging all speakers also and when volume goes above 30 it shuts off.

I can turn the volume above 30 if nothing is playing but as soon as I play something it shuts off.

It will play fine for hours with volume...

TCL 50S425 Roku TV Boot Loop
    by grimacelord
Hello again. This time it's a TCL 50S425 Roku TV that is stuck in a boot loop.

The TV will power on, display the TCL logo for a few moments, and then the TV restarts in an endless loop. It sounds to me like corrupt firmware.

    So far, I have:

    1. Disconnected the power cable and pressed and held the power button down for 30 seconds and tried powering on again - No change.

    2. Pressed and held the RESET button for up to 60 seconds. - No change.

    3. Tried disconnecting power cable in the middle of one of it's loops,...
