subject line says it all. what can i do here? i already tried factory reset and it changed nothing.
is this just a bad mainboard, and the software notices it so grays out the sound option?

Is the Internal Mute set to ON? . Accessed via the On Screen Menu
Willing to help but I'm no expert.

          Maybe try a firmware update/reapply?

There's a mediafire link there if you can't find firmware at samsung.

Have you looked in the service menu i think its display/info, menu, mute, power or Mute 182 power (tv is off) to enter the service menu on these tvs

I would check to see if VCC is feeding into the audio processor. Maybe if notit's not, the tv is tricked into thinking there is no audio option present. What happens if you try to turn the volume control up-and-down do you see the bar show up with the volume?
Did I leave the soldering iron on?
