Call me Ahab. Seriously. Since my friend "gifted" me this Panasonic tc-p50x5 it has literally become my white whale obsession trying to figure out how to fix this thing.
From my pics, you can see the tell-tale black horizontal lines which i believe i have narrowed down to a bad SC board, which i have located a cheap replacement. However, any ideas to the contrary are always welcome.
The real bugaboo has been trying to figure out this green screen, which is more or less permanent, though at times disappears to reveal the lovely (and tantalizing) picture underneath. Also, as you see in pic 3, the far right side reveals a bit of the actual picture beneath. I have thoroughly blown out and cleaned all connections inside, removed and carefully cleaned and reconnected all ribbon cables. The sound is great, it powers on and off like a gem, the green screen and black lines are present no matter what inputs are used, and the menu screen shows black lines but no problem with green screen.
Any help or ideas you have are greatly appreciated!
Ps....2 related questions:
1. I inherited this unit without remote control. Any ideas how i can bypass this to do things like factory reset, enter password, and/or enter service mode?
2. Anyone have a link for the training manual/module for this unit? I have the service manual but would very much like to have a look at the advanced troubleshooting processes for this unit.
