    Toshiba Regza 42Z650U - Bad Panel?

    Hello Badcaps community.

    I recently picked up this Toshiba Regza 42Z650U for free and wanted to run a couple of pictures by you really quick before I just salvaged parts from the TV.

    Picture 01.jpg is a picture of what the panel looks like before I did any kind of tampering. Picture displays in the top blue strip acress the top, and the rest is black.

    Pictures 02-06 are the board layouts and front and back pictures.

    Picture 07.jpg is the picture I can attain on the set if I use scotch tape on a few pins of each T-Con Ribbon. When I use this trick, the right side of the panel seems to work perfectly fine, perhaps kind of dark, while the left side of the panel will eventually display a picture, it seems to be almost delayed in rendering the data.

    I can order the T-CON for about $20 on ebay, but I wanted to know if it is almost certainly the panel before I spent any cash. What do you guys think from those pictures, is it worth a T-Con? If not, I'm probably just going to pull all of the boards and recycle the rest of the set.

    Thanks for any further tests you can offer. I didn't see any test points on this T-Con board.

    David

        TCL 50S535 bad tcon or panel issue?
        by x_orange90_x
        Just bought this for 10 bucks yesterday hoping to fix it. The guy said water dropped inside from a dehumidifier hose and it started showing black and white vertical bars then went blank. When I got it home and turned it on it came on fine and displayed correctly but I was noticing faint vertical bars in the image. After a little bit I turned it off and back on and it was a black screen again. I opened it up to check for water damage and corrosion but didn't find anything of the sort. I cleaned the ribbons anyway and reconnected them but still got a blank screen. If I disconnect the right side...

        Missing LCD Panel Voltages VGH, VGL, VCOM (TCL 55P6US Sound & Backlight but NO Picture)
        by maneatingmonkey
        I have a TCL 55P6US with sound and backlight but no picture. This model does not have a T-CON board, and the right (rear perspective) panel board is fed from the left panel board. I have not been able to induce any change by disconnecting the secondary panel board or the tape cut-off method on the primary board.

        There are a bunch of voltages missing on the panel boards. I can't find any shorted caps of the panel boards, and all of the missing voltage rails read in the kiloohms, which leads me to suspect the issue may lie on the circuit board, rather than a short in the panel.

        Toshiba 37AV500A Regza TV good power supply no sound no picture
        by jord4231
        Hi Everyone,

        I'm working on a Toshiba 37AV500A Regza TV.

        The issue:
        TV was working picture and sound went out. Green stand by light stayed on, It will respond to the power button being pressed (goes in and out of standby)
        The TV will very intermittently work for around 40 mins then stop. This doesn't seem to matter if its hot/cold unplugged for a while etc.

        I checked the PSU voltages and everything looked good.
        No bulging caps or signs of heat.

        24v aud = 24.41v
        12v = 11.98v
        5v = 5.062

        General Questions on the Relationship Between Mainboard, TCON and Panel
        by mmartell
        My goal here is to be able to use boards on hand to swap into faulty sets when the faulty board is not obvious.

        I will start by asking what is the format of the output from the mainboard and is it generic in any way or does it vary by manufacturer and/or model ?

        And as far as I know a tcon and panel must be a matching pair because the timing of the signals and the voltages required to drive the panel are specific to the panel itself. (That may be a blanket statement that isn't true in some cases where the panel creates its own sub-voltages on its panel boards?)...
