Toshiba Regza 42Z650U - Bad Panel?
Hello Badcaps community.
I recently picked up this Toshiba Regza 42Z650U for free and wanted to run a couple of pictures by you really quick before I just salvaged parts from the TV.
Picture 01.jpg is a picture of what the panel looks like before I did any kind of tampering. Picture displays in the top blue strip acress the top, and the rest is black.
Pictures 02-06 are the board layouts and front and back pictures.
Picture 07.jpg is the picture I can attain on the set if I use scotch tape on a few pins of each T-Con Ribbon. When I use...

Re: Vizio e600i-b3 Power Supply Repair
Right. Okay, so I have this power supply: https://www.amazon.com/Yescom-Precision-Variable-Digital-Adjustable/dp/B00SWK6M0M
If I turn the current knobs all the way down, and slowly raise them until it starts to register on the supply how much is being drawn, is that still not safe? How much of a resistor should I be attaching if that isn't adequate?Re: Vizio e600i-b3 Power Supply Repa...0SWK6M0M

Re: Vizio e600i-b3 Power Supply Repair
There is no standby voltage as far as I can tell on the set, and no standby LED comes on when the set is plugged in. None of the voltages change when you press power on the set. I decided to just go ahead and search the strips for LED issues and every single strip fired on fine with my bench power supply. I think at this point I may just go ahead and start looking around for Power/Main boards, unless those ICs would make more sense to change.

Re: Vizio e600i-b3 Power Supply Repair
no pins are labeled "Standby". In the YouTube video I posted in my original thread, the tech mentioned that pins 8 and 9 labeled "12V Reg" were standby. I'm not sure if that's accurate though. I don't want to blow anything up, so I'll wait and see what you think as far as jumping pin 8 to PS_ON. Thanks!
8 12V Reg 12.36V
9 12V Reg 12.36V

Re: Vizio e600i-b3 Power Supply Repair
If I jump these connections with the mainboard still connected, both the PS_ON and the LED_ON voltages change to 1.9V and the 27V LED pins remain at 0V.
If I disconnect the the mainboard, PS_ON drops to 0V. Which connections to I need to jumper to fire the Power supply on without the mainboard connected?...

Vizio e600i-b3 Power Supply Repair
Hi Badcaps community.
I picked up a used Vizio e600i-b3 locally, hoping for a few dud LEDs only, but alas, it seems there is a problem with the power supply. I've attached pictures of the layout of the TV, the front and back of the power supply, and a few close-ups of some of the connectors. I saw this video on YouTube and determined that the PSU was likely at fault as my power supply gave nearly identical voltages to the video. In the video he just replaced the PSU, but I'm wondering if there is an easy way to diagnose...

Re: Vizio E401i-A2 No Voltages out of main Power Supply
Thank you so much for the advice. I ordered a Hakko temperature controlled unit in a set with some additional accessories. In the meantime, I received the replacement IC501, and bam, the TV fired right up. Thanks so much for the help guys. Another TV saved from the dump...

Re: Vizio E401i-A2 No Voltages out of main Power Supply
Thank you for the additional help and instructions. I think that in my apprehension the probe slipped off of the negative side of the cap and touched something else. I should have clarified that the fuse I blew was the fuse on the power supply, not the fuse on the meter.
I think you are right about IC501 possibly being the culprit. There is a noticeable piece of material missing from it.
It is labeled TNY174, and the rest is blown off. I'm assuming based on a google search that it is TNY174PN....

Re: Vizio E401i-A2 No Voltages out of main Power Supply
When I tried to measure DCV across the main cap it sparked and blew the fuse. Am I not supposed to put negative to negative and positive to positive? I replaced the fuse but am hesitant to try that measurement again. Thanks for your help...

Re: Vizio E401i-A2 No Voltages out of main Power Supply
D210 isn't beeping in diode mode. However, it did register voltage in both directions. Upon pulling it out of circuit, it only registered in one direction again.
I did measure a voltage of .170V on the PS-ON pin. Sorry I didn't catch that before.
Resistance between 3.3V and GND is 500 ohms. Since these gave resistance, do I need to go ahead with D501 - IC501 as listed in your instructions?...

Vizio E401i-A2 No Voltages out of main Power Supply
Hello BadCaps community. I'm not sure if I've ever posted here, but I've been using the pages of troubleshooting in these forums for years. Thank you for your insight. You've taught me a lot and saved me hundreds if not thousands of dollars.
I have a Vizio E401i-A2 that I was asked to take a look at for a friend. When the set is plugged in, I do not see any standby light.
I've fixed a number of sets and have checked what I would consider to be the most common failures that I see. The main fuse on the power board tested short in Diode mode, the caps all looked good...Last edited by david.aaron.long; 11-12-2017, 01:00 AM. Reason: Added addition picture of the back of the full set.

Re: Insignia NS-46E340A13
Funny story. I bought the tv from him on craigslist, thinking I would be able to come to badcaps and find a way to fix it...
