    Toshiba 46xV645U Blinking Orange Light

Hello, I am trying to repair a Toshiba 46xV645U.

It's symptoms are: when powered on it displays no backlight and its standby led blinks orange continiously. The unit failed flashlight test.

I read in its manual that blinking orange is a backlight issue. I tested the two backlight connectors on the power board and read 3.38V where it's marked as 24Vinv (side question: what is "inv" after 24V)

Is this enough information to determine the powerboard as the fault?

Need voltages from connector that goes from power supply board to main board. Will need pin#- PIN DESCRIPTION -Pin voltage in standby-Pin voltage when pushing power button and picture of connector on power supply board.
    Format:
Pin# - Pin Description - Pin Voltage standby - Pin voltage power on
    1 - XXXXXXX - XXv - XXXv
    2 - XXXXXXX - XXXv - XXXv
    3 - XXXXXXX - XXXv - XXXv
    4 - etc.
I assume no responsibility for any stupid suggestions I might post.

Looks like you are missing 5 - S_24V - 0V - 0V which is probably power for your back lights

            Thank you for your expertise

Would replacing the power board resolve the issue? Or is it more complicated then that?

S_24 on that connector pin of the power supply board that goes to the main board looks to be the command signal to run on the 24V power supply to supply 24VINV to run the backlights inverter board.

We need good clear pictures of the whole backside of the TV showing how all the boards are connected together.

There are a number of small round (red) fuses on these boards, if you are missing S_24V
check and see if D897 & F897 are in place, if they are missing this voltage is not provided on this board
(S_24V is supplied by T880) so if you have audio 18-24 and +12v on PJ90 that circuit is working.
Check R851 (5Watt Cer.) resistor, near the relays Also check F870, F840

Check for +24 volts on P860 or P861. If you have +24 volts, check your inverter boards (under the shields at the side of the tv)

Is S_24 a command signal or actual Switched 24V OUTPUT? I know the 24VINV is the output for sure.
You are probably correct about the R851, it tends to burn up a lot due to failed relay contacts.

I just checked the board on SJ, If this is the same board? PE0702.
There is one winding off T880, it goes through F897, L897, D897, filtered by C898, up to a jumper wire jp091, then to c8952 and the plug
If these parts are not there, no voltage at that pin

Some one else worked on this board before you? Just wondering what else is missing or may be not.
BTW, PE0702 looks to be the blank PCB P/N.. there should be another part number for the PCBA (PCB assembly which you can see that the whole board is not fitted with all the parts).
I cannot tell from your pictures.
As you can see, that PCB PE0702 is used in more than one Power supply PCBA:
                              http://www.shopjimmy.com/catalogsearch/result/?q=pe0702

yes this was serviced via "send to ebay seller for repair" I will try to get information on that whole deal once the owner of this tv hears back from him.

Below is a response from the ebay seller if it gives any clues or context

"This power supply is pretty simple to troubleshoot if you have the knowledge to be able to force it on. There are 3 voltages to check: 18 volt, 24 volt, and the 12 volt outputs. Which one of these is "wrong"? It cannot be the 18 volt output because you have sound. The 18 volt output supplies the voltage for the sound circuits.

So, we are left with a possible problem with the 24 volt output, since the 24 volt output supplies voltage to the inverters, which light the backlight. However, the microcontroller on the main board will turn the 24 volt supply 'off' when there is a problem, which can make it hard to check the voltages. Hence, the power supply has to be forced on to check the voltages. "Getting the wrong voltage out of the board" is a funny answer, since these voltages are either there or not there in my experience. There is no in between. "

Could S_24 be a command signal that needs to be forced on as the ebay seller explained? How/why would i have to force the power supply to do that? could the issue be from the main board?

S_24 = SWITCHED 24 VOLTS. just like the 12v and 18v_audio. follow the pin from the plug. If THIS board were populated with the components on that line THEN you would have switched 24 volts there. The components are not there so NO S_24

What seems to be missing is the 24VINV but the original poster has not posted whether it is there or not. If it is missing then check that part of the power supply

I tested the two backlight connectors on the power board and read 3.38V where it's marked as 24vinv
