Another Panasonic [TH-P50U20A] with 10 Blinks

    Hey All

I've got myself a Panasonic TH-P50U20A made in AUG 2010 and what started with a 10 Blinks with some basic checking a few threads and grabbing these PDF files below

    Panasonic_TC-P42S2_[SM]
    Panasonic_2010_PDP_S2_FHD_Troubleshooting

I now have the 7 blinking symptoms, so out comes the TNPA5105 and sure enough shorts everywhere across various FETS transistors etc.

I've not yet removed any of the components however after looking briefly at this thread Panasonic sc tnpa5081 rebuild there seems to be a varying amount of components

I'm curious as on fleAbay there are several kits which contains most parts to be used on the TNPA5105 board and living in Sydney, AUS ebay or aliexpress is my best option to buy most parts, but there is not much difference from buying a kit or a used TNPA5105 board.

So I am wondering if anyone has actually found the exact components that fail of are these always different from board to board? Also has anyone identified "better" higher spec'd components that survive these failures that occur on the TNPA5105 board.

I've yet to rule out the buffer boards, which I will do over the weekend with a simple test as found in the utube

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-JVLWpcIxJQ

I will get some pictures up as soon as I find a suitable host since photobucket held us on ransom after offering free pix for years

Keen to know if people have found better components to use as a replacement and if there is is a good place to source the parts

    PEACE
    Kosti

    If you can't get a 5105, throw a 5081 in there(50"). won't know the difference.

there's generally very similar failures but occassionally you get one that's non compliant which kicks your ass. I had one recently. Two attempts failed, threw a 5081 in as I have them.

You can sub other IGBTs. RJP56F4A, RJP43F4a for the Panasonic DG series. Could get away with the 56F4 for the 63F3.

hard to know if you'll get fakes or not. Will probably involve some SMD work.

Thanks for that tw2005 - it's going to be one of those projects where I will work on it when times permits

      @tw2005

How much can you source a TNPA5081 as it may save a whole lot of stuffing around in sourcing components, soldering etc and my eyes are not as good as they used to be

Do you source parts from local electronics stores or just have a hole lot of bits and bobs around the place? Do you recommend those kits are worth it on fleabay?

So is there a list of parts compiles or should I start removing until the S/C are gone

BTW is the TNPA5081 and later revision or earlier one

would the TNPA5081 work on the TC-P50U2 TNPA5105AB board as well?

Sorry mate. Kinda dropped off the RADAR with this forum, onto other things now.

How much can you source a TNPA5081?

All mine are ones I've rebuilt. May have one but I have not built one now for 2 years
Do you source parts from local electronics stores or just have a hole lot of bits and bobs around the place?

Use to use UTSOURCE but had a falling out over fake bits blowing up and they hang me out to dry.

It is highly unlikely any part marked as an original is real these days. More likely something that has been sanded down and restamped.

Do you recommend those kits are worth it on fleabay?

Touch and go. Youmay have one that's failed differently.

I had a 5105 and thought I had it covered , rebuilt twice blew up twice. probably had a 75% success on the few I've done

So is there a list of parts compiles or should I start removing until the S/C are gone

You'd have to read through the forum threads including mine on 5081. I've done enough, the info is out there.

BTW is the TNPA5081 and later revision or earlier one?

5081 is same generation but out of the upmarket V series. Almost the same. the 5105 is a cut down 5081

These TVs are not worth much now so what's the plan?

Is the rest of it ok? Mainboard failure is also a common one in that U series

So I can just swap the tnpa5105ab for a tnpa5081ak?..ak is one I found on eBay that's a 50 inch model..cheaper then getting a replacement 5105..half the price for replacement parts...

No, it needs to be AP,AF or Aw versions. AK is a 3D.
