Re: Yamaha RX-V3900 Powers On then Off (Protect)
Hi All
Anyone have any further idea of why this amps shuts down? Basics checks seems to come up ok and the receiver is shutting down on abnormal voltage protection, with the message "PS3 PRT 181" (norm 114-180).
I've checked the voltages of PS3: Detects +5VA, -5VA, +9VA. to make sure they are ok and they are measuring +4.94VA -4.94VA & +8.99VA.
Really need some guidance chaps
PEACE
Kosti

Re: Yamaha RX-V3900 Powers On then Off (Protect)
Hello All
I've finally had a chance to get back to this today, so I have looked to confirm the voltages of these regulators based on what PS3: Detects +5VA, -5VA, +9VA at CB23.
Checking those voltages reads +4.94VA -4.94VA & +8.99VA so they are ok right?
So do I need to measure R75 - 47K ,R76 - 27K ,R77 - 27K values if the voltage readings are close to values? I will try and do this but given they are on the flip side of the board, its dismantling the whole amp which I wanted to avoid....

Re: Yamaha RX-V3900 Powers On then Off (Protect)
OK great thank you, I will try and check this on this weekend, Its a big amp and I have to keep moving if off our dinner table to work on it
Thank you,
EDIT, makes sense now that I looked at the schematic
R75 - 47K ,R76 - 27K ,R77 - 27K
I will measure these when I get the opened up and report back.
Just to add there will be some delay as I was measuring the caps on the PS1 around C4 area and found the 3300uf to be out so have ordered some of these...

Yamaha RX-V3900 Powers On then Off (Protect)
Hi All,
The receiver is shutting down on abnormal voltage protection, with the message "PS3 PRT 181" (norm 114-180). I assume the issue points to the POWER (3) so I got into the diagnostic mode and measure some of the voltages at the points to the main transformer and these seems close to there values as found on the schematics
CB15
AC 9.9 (GY): Pin1 10.47V ac
AC 9.9 (GY): Pin2
AC 30 (WH): Pin5 15.76V ac
AC 30 (RE): Pin6
If I measure across Pin4&Pin6 I get the 30V ac. I suspect the schematics is wrong as...

Re: Another Panasonic [TH-P50U20A] with 10 Blinks
Thanks for that tw2005 - it's going to be one of those projects where I will work on it when times permits
@tw2005
How much can you source a TNPA5081 as it may save a whole lot of stuffing around in sourcing components, soldering etc and my eyes are not as good as they used to be
Do you source parts from local electronics stores or just have a hole lot of bits and bobs around the place? Do you recommend those kits are worth it on fleabay?
So is there a list of parts compiles...

Re: LM270WQ1 SD F1 - iMac 27in A1419 LCD
I have not had much success and the TCON board seems like a big job for the hobbyist, and so I will just end up buying an aftermarket screen and selling this POS imac once the screen is replaced.
Never again will I touch these over priced lemons!

Another Panasonic [TH-P50U20A] with 10 Blinks
Hey All
I've got myself a Panasonic TH-P50U20A made in AUG 2010 and what started with a 10 Blinks with some basic checking a few threads and grabbing these PDF files below
Panasonic_TC-P42S2_[SM]
Panasonic_2010_PDP_S2_FHD_Troubleshooting
I now have the 7 blinking symptoms, so out comes the TNPA5105 and sure enough shorts everywhere across various FETS transistors etc.
I've not yet removed any of the components however after looking briefly at this thread Panasonic...

LM270WQ1 SD F1 - iMac 27in A1419 LCD
Hey Team

I have a display problem and I am trying to isolate the issue on the MAC and suspect its a T-CON board issue
The screen seems to light up but only with blue vertical lines however connecting an external monitor via DP shows up perfectly
The panel is made by LG and has the following details LM270WQ1 SD F1
To buy a replacement is almost the cost of a new MAC and shipping to AUS kills any options along with huge risks of a damage screen once it arrives, so I'm hoping I can narrow it down to a component failure

Re: Good News
Hey Mate
Try editing the quotes without reproducing the pixit looks like a double post.. LOL
Yes 4 items were replaced the 3 - Q421 through to Q423 and the one Q401
The rest were all good, however I didn't check anything else like the bolts and I didn't cleaned up the pads as for checking the SS, I didn't measure any shorts on it.
So far so good, but now you made me paranoid!...

Good News
Well my postman delivered a package with the following content

I like how the components where packaged

So I had the house to myself and I began the journey of pulling out the suspect items
First up was the 3x RJP30H2A Silicon N Channel IGBT High Speed Power Switching, all three came...

Re: Panasonic Vierra 50ST30 SOS 7 Blinks
Thanks heap!
I will have a crack at it over the weekend and test these points as I need to use the dinner table to lay it flat and don't have much time during the week
The place I grabbed the IGBT's don't carry the RCJ330N25 FET so if mine is gone I will need to purchase from ebay, seems they are from china so not sure if I shoud trust the quality of the FET from there
Thanks again!

Re: Panasonic Vierra 50ST30 SOS 7 Blinks
Hey TW,
Had a read of your thread you link, awesome!! funny it didn't come up when I performed a search prior to posting, but fantastic as the same components are coming up shorted on my TNPA 5335, so there could be a good chance the buffer boards are good..Fingers Crossed!!
I still need to dig up how to perform that resistance test!
BTW, interesting they the 8 blinks led to another component as you mentioned a RCJ330N25 FET shorted, so I will go and test this as well, shame I didn't see your post earlier,...

Thanks for chiming in here!!
Yes I checked the others and they seem good, never really thought to measure the resisters however I am not sure which ones these sellers were referring to, but will take a closer look

Never thought to remove them until I actually got the parts in, just so I don't bugger or get the order wrong :p but it maybe an idea to take them out and measure the rest of the components
I have the training guide but must have...

Panasonic Vierra 50ST30 SOS 7 Blinks
Hi All
I've been lurking around a bit to try and solve my Plasma issue and I know there are a lot of threads with varying info, but I wanted to kick start my own in order to not hijack others
In particular this thread HERE was the closest to my issue but there was no further update.
So I have the 50in unit and suffers from the 7 blinks SOS and went hunting for the solution. From the various repair manuals, I followed the process of elimination to and seems to have narrowed this...
