Toshiba 42SL863 No Power, PSU dead

    Hi all

I have got a Toshiba 42SL863 TV here with a power issue - no power light at all. The power board in this TV is a PA-3201-01TS-LF.

I have read through a handful of troubleshooting threads here but the ones I have seen assume that there is power getting to the regulators in order to measure the outputs etc. In my case, the fuse on the PSU board right next to the input connector (labeled F001) has blown and has no continuity. I replaced this fuse but it went up in smoke straight away. There is another fuse labeled F301 which seems to be ok and has continuity.

There are no signs or burns or any damage to the board itself, in fact it is very clean apart from the usual dust. The voltage regulators appear to be mounted on aluminum heatspreaders but they are mounted upside down and flat to the board and I am unable to identify any of the part numbers on them without de-soldering both the heat spreaders and the components themselves to see the labelled side. Looking at the relay on the board, on the reverse side of it one corner does seem to look very slightly discoloured as if it may have got warm, but doesn't look burnt. From what I can see it appears to be on the output side of the relay and not the coil side if that helps at all.

Which components should I look at testing to find out what causes the fuse to blow? I can't seem to find any power boards for sale anywhere in the UK, the only one I could find was from a USA seller on ebay which was prohibitively expensive at $65+$25 shipping to the UK and import duty on top so I'm faced with either repairing this board or buying a new TV.

      Hello,

Sadly I have to give up on this repair, the TV was given to me by a neighbour when it died, but it turns out it was not theirs to give and the owner has asked for it back. If anything changes I will be sure to come back here for advice. I do have another Samsung TV I will be posting about as well though
