I have removed the led panel, plugged in the tv and powered up the backlights to determine which backlight strips are defective. I replaced the strips that were suspect and now all strips light up for a few seconds and then the top and bottom strips on both sides (4 strips) go out. After a few minutes the tv then shuts down. I have tested each strip individually with a led tester and each strip shows all led's working. I replaced the power supply board and the led driver board with used boards that I believe are good boards. Any ideas or suggestions will be very much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Re: Vizio D65u-D2 backlight issues
I have had backlight strips that tested 'good' but when connected to PSU they go out. My recommendations to you are:
(1) Check the connections on the strips and ensure they are secure by re-soldering them.
(2) Replace the original LED strips with new strips, so that all the strips would have been replaced. -
Re: Vizio D65u-D2 backlight issues
I forgot to mention......I swapped the connector from the working led strip with the non working led strip and the non working led strip then lights up and the working led strip does not work. It's like the wire harness is defective but I tried another wire harness and I get the same results. Any ideas? Thanks.Comment

Re: Vizio D65u-D2 backlight issues
Just wanted to share this with hopes of helping someone else. The backlight issues I was having actually turned out to be the mainboard. I hope this might save someone some time in their diagnoses.Comment

No picture, just red vertical stripes. Google search shows quite common problem for these recent Vizio M series although red vertical stripe pattern may differ. Some call it "Netflix" boot screen haha.
Where is the short?
Panel has 4x buffer boards. Quickly found the 1/4 panel buffer board with the problem by selectively disconnecting buffer board flex cables.

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?by Tynan DillI was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.
Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.
I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.
The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.
With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

by smortSoooo, I found someone giving away their 70" Vizio TV because it wouldn't turn on. Hoping it would be just some bad caps, I snapped it up. No dice. No bulging caps. TV would start consuming about 7W immediately after plugging it in, but no response from the remote or power button. Thermal showed the main chip on the mobo getting warm and nothing else. Power supply appeared to deliver stable 12V to the mainboard.
I ordered a replacement mobo(actually both mobo and PSU just to be sure) and popped it in. Picture! Sound! Endorphins! Then I noticed three long dark strips. Hmmm, had... -

by edugimenoHi There!
I'm trying to help my friend who owns a restaurant be just bought.
He has a very long LED strip running along all the walls and columns. The strip is attached facing down 2in above the floor, using a wall panel that ends in a metal rail that finishes the panel underneath
It's stuck using, I guess, the 2 sided tape that comes with the strip
The issue is that like 1/2 of the full length, including 1/2 one wall, another entire wall, and one column, flickers after 4 or 5 minutes ON. Particularly it flashes staying OFF most of the time and flashing ON for 1 tenth... - Loading...
