Status update, The relay latches when I put a jumper on STBY3.3V to POWER_ON. All other 12V does power up for a second.

    CXA3809M -> AC_DETIN gets a solid 5V
    CXA3809M -> AC_DETOUT get a solid 1.1V

Found the data sheet for the CXA3809M-T6 and it says that if the AC in is OK then AC_DETOUT output is High so PH6302 input is not turned on so AC_DET output is also high as you first thought.
Check all the components leading in to AC_DETIN.

Yes Other supply comes up for a second and then the relay clicks back off

Looking at the schematic AC_Det going to 0V looks OK. Have you connected 3.3V to Power_On using a 1K resistor to see if the other supplies come up ie 12V, 24V

Link does not open and picture not good enough to see much. I would be checking ac input protection components

Thank you for the quick response.
Yes, I managed to get the circuit as well.

Is there any way I could get the circuit of the main board of the same TV?

  • Sony KDL-40EX710 - Lightning strike and power surge

    Hi All,

I am an electronics enthusiast and this is my second post, I recently received a TV that was struck by lightning.
    Model: KDL-40EX710

The TV used to display the error code 7 blinks. The TV was sent to Sony for repairs but they trashed it as it was an obsolete model. Now after getting back the TV from them. The error codes have vanished. The red light comes on the relay clicks and then after 2 seconds it clicks back again.

So I am trying to reverse engineer the power supply board.
    I have standby 3.3 V
I am curious about the voltage in AC_OFF_DET. It shows 3.3 Volt but once I put a jumper on STBY3.3V to POWER_ON the AC_OFF_DET goes to 0V

I feel this is not normal, I remember AC_OFF_DET being 2.3 ish to 2.8ish volts. Please help me out.

I am trying to revive this TV.

advices for repairing Sony Bravia 32EX600 after lightning strike
    by pbig
    hi everyone,
my parents in law have seen their Bravia Sony LED 32EX600 TV set stop after a lightning strike. After being plugged to mains, it shows nothing no power LED on bottom left shines.
On the power PCB (GE3b, attached pic), I chacked the fuses and the only roasted one is R6536 : 0.47 ohms, 1/2W. After replacing it, I made some voltage measurement with ref to the chassis :
    - the 450V/150uF capacitor voltage when plugged is normal at 394V
    - from connector CN6150 (15 poles)
STBY normal 3.3V -> I shunted it to 3 (POWER ON) and 11 (BL ON) and unplugged...

HP EliteBook 840 G6 – no power after lightning strike
    by Bardou Kari
    Hi,
I’m trying to fix an HP EliteBook 840 G6 that stopped working after a lightning storm.

    – Charger is OK and 19V is present at the motherboard.
    – No charging LED, no fan, no reaction.
    – I don’t see any 3.3V or 5V near the coils.
    – Battery is unplugged.
    – I’m new to board repair but can use a multimeter.

I added a clear photo of the board.
Any idea where to start or what to check next?
Thanks a lot for your help!...

Samsung UN60EH6000 wont come on after lightning strike.
    by karthur
We had a lightning strike a few days ago really close to my house. My Samsung UN60EH6000 was on when it hit. Afterwards, the TV would not come back on.

I had repaired this TV a few years back by replacing the T-Con board. (The post I had on this is repair is here.)

When I turn on the TV, I don't get any start-up melody. The screen just dimly flickers around the edges.

Here is what I have checked.
On the power supply board, 14pin connector:
    1 :12.7 Vdc
    3 :12.7
    5 :12.7
    7 :12.7
    9 :0
    11 :5.
    13 :5....

Lightning Strike: 55" TV dead: is display panel OK?
    by MrCreosote
    THE LIGHTNING:
This was a very close strike, blew a 15 amp breaker for all ceiling lights in home AND could smell ozone for a few minutes after strike.

Very close and probably a very strong EMP.

    THE TV:
No standby LED. Some voltage from PSB (not totally dead).

But found a kit of ALL 4 circuit boards for $55.

At first thought, this will fix my TV.

But then lightning has the ability to totally fry semiconductors. Which would include any or all of the PCBs. However, the display is one big semiconductor and given...

ElectroVoice ETX-18SP (powered Subwoofer) damaged after lightning strike
    by pfl
    Hello Everyone.
This powerful amplified subwoofer doesn't make any sound after lightning striked near the house were it was plugged in.
    It consists in :
    • a power board were the full H bridge class D amplifier and main power rails are located
    • a preamp board (ref. F.01U.299.771) receiving 2 symetrical inputs(IN1, IN2), a digital chain (A-D converter -> Digital Signal Processor -> D-A converter) and a micro controler in charge (at least) of the human interface (lcd display and 1 rotating button)
    Power rails are ok.
    human interface is working fine
    Input levels are...
