Philips 40PFL3706/F7 No Backlight Logo flashes on

When turned on, the backlight comes on briefly and you can see the Philips logo on screen but then the backlight promptly shuts off.

    Service manual available here
    https://www.electronica-pt.com/esque...-pl11.1-25763/

    Samsung panel: LTA400HM09 7HBL0A256H

    On-state voltages
    Connector to LCD
    Panel+24V: 24.7V
    Backlight-SW: 2.7V
    Backlight-Adj (pin14): 2.6V (reads 3.2V when backlight flashes on)
Backlight-Adj (pin13): 2.2V (reads 2.8V when backlight flashes on, 0V on schematic but not connected to anything on PS board so reading from inverter board)

    Connector to main board
    Backlight-SW: 3.2V
    Backlight-ADJ(DC): 2.6V
    P-ON-H2: 3.1V
    AL+4.3V: 4.4V
    DETECT: 3.3V
    P-ON+12V: 11.9V

The schematics show expected voltages and my measured voltages all agree. When the backlight is off and tv is on, all voltages are steady except Backlight-Adj.

No bulged caps on power supply and inverter boards. All fuses ok. Doesn't appear to have a PFC circuit or protect signals for shut down.

Do you see any dark area when backlights come on?
I assume no responsibility for any stupid suggestions I might post.

CCFL/EEFL Backlight issue. Though HV Transformers could be issue, too. I would measure and compare secondary resistance readings. If they are equal or very close readings. I would focus attention to backlights.

Hard to tell when only the logo is on screen if there are dark areas.

Older rev inverter board is around $15 on ebay part LJ97-03241A. Pics show a PCB SSI400_08A01 Rev0.2 while mine is newer Rev0.3 with Rubycon electrolytic caps part LJ97-03241B. Shopjimmy sells this refurbished. Wonder if they are replacing the transformers. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Samsung-LJ97...MAAOSwPYZVADvD

Panel looks like it is used in the following models so gonna done some more searching.
        Dynex DX-40L261A12
        Emerson LC401EM2F LC401EM3F
        Hisense F40V87C
        Magnavox 40MF401B/F7

This post is similar to my problem

I would be measuring transformer resistances before throwing parts at it

From looking at the transformer the middle winding is primary.

            Transformer 1 - 593 ohm, 556 ohm

            Transformer 2 - 589 ohm, 589 ohm

            Small transformer - 12 ohm

I believe that you look for < 3% difference in the winding resistance for a good transformer
Willing to help but I'm no expert.

Re: Philips 40PFL3706/F7 No Backlight Logo flashes on

Got the replacement board today but the seller sent me three boards instead of just one. I contacted them and they said they just wanted to get rid of them.

Measured the secondary coil impedance of the replacement board and it is around 562 ohms for both outputs and both transformers. Quickly tested and the tv stayed on so put the shield back and buttoned everything backup. Testing again, no logo at all. Oops, forgot to plug the board back in.

One minor issue is I saw a black vertical line 1 pixel width that went away. Possibly an intermittent tab bond or panel issue. Will do some extended testing to see how intermittent it is.

If you need an inverter board for this TV, let me know.

                    by DutchDIY
I have another tv with issues, this one remains in an infinite boot loop but won't display a logo or anything, just backlight for some seconds and then a reboot.

I have added some pics of it's guts.
Any help is much appreciated, thanks everyone.

                    Edit:
I'm getting 8s of backlight, and smth of a reboot taking 15s to display another 8s of backlight. This repeats itself....

                    Philips TV Backlight Repair
                    by chestercc
So i'm trying to replace the LED's in a Philips TV. It's 42" with a 715g7262-p01-000-0010 backlight driver board based around an O2 Micro OZ9902CGN.

My issue is when I replace all the LED's on one board with the new 3V 300ma ones they immediately burn out when the set is powered again. I previously tried the same thing with 6V LED's and the backlight flickered for a bit but wouldn't start.

The original LED's which I removed which are still working start to melt and burn when given more than 3V on DCPS so I know they shouldn't be higher voltage ones.

                    ...

Trying to control Philips backlight manually with PWM — brightness increases with frequency...?
                    by ohren
I raised the question of whether PWM on the power board "dim" pin would be a reasonable assumption for controlling the backlight of a Philips TV (55put6101/12): https://www.badcaps.net/forum/troubl...d-tv-backlight. I didn't receive any insights there so I went ahead and tried it.

                    The setup is basically:

                    Rpi3 hardware PWM → 220 Ohm → NPN transistor → dim pin

Transistor is switching the 3.5 V supply on the power board....

Philips 55PUS6804/12 turn on & off (probably backlight issue)
                    by ovrax
                    Hello everyone,

First of all, please excuse me as I'm quite new to this field.

I have a Philips 55PUS6804/12 TV. It turns on and off instantly (backlight flash). I personally think it's a backlight issue (faulty LEDs). Could you help me confirm my diagnosis?

I've checked and the T-CON seems to be fine. I disconnected one ribbon cable at a time at the bottom, but the problem persists.
The Ambilight works perfectly and stays on.

                    No sounds.

                    Thanks in advance.

this tv is throwing me for a loop. do samsung tvs no longer have the backlight self test feature built into the power supply?
i tested the backlight with my LED tester and it lights up both strips. one of them reads 100v and the other reads 63.7v.
unplugged mainboard from power supply but left backlight plugged in, and then plugged psu wall power in. expected to see backlights light up but see nothing.
according to how ive diagnosed in the past, this would almost always be a bad power supply. replacement power supply was cheap like 20$ from ebay. but still i get not even...
