Thanks for the tip! I went down the row testing them, and, sure enough, the fifth transformer from the top (the one right in line with the lamp behind dim spot on the screen) is indeed wide open. The soldering looks big enough that I could probably just replace the individual transformer, so I'll order one of those up and get it installed.

Might check it for broken wire on pin first.
I assume no responsibility for any stupid suggestions I might post.

interesting output pins, but at least you have found the problem.

i had 5 transformer failures in a row a little while back. at least they are an easy repair.
WHY CAN'T PHILIPS USE PHILLIPS HEAD SCREWS?

          Fixed!

The transformer was indeed the problem! Replacements are only $10-12 on eBay, so I picked one up, installed it, and everything is back in operation. That was way easier to diagnose and repair than backlights; I am truly relieved.

          Hooray!

            Sharp LC-50LB370U PS or backlights?
            by Mustang67ford
Hello all. Working on a sharp LC-50LB370U. A few days ago, I turned the tv on and immediately left the room, came back in and tv was black. Turned it off then on and all good (didnt think much of it at the time) for about a week. Did the same thing again but stayed black this time. When turning on, the word "sharp" is dimmer than normal I think then tv goes black. I do have sound and do have a display with the flashlight test. I trided unplugging and also holding in the power button for 30 sec, no change. I opened the back up and the backlights do turn on to some extent for a moment...

Sharp LC- 58Q620U - Standby Light, No Backlights or Image
            by Tecc1229
            Hello, I have a Sharp LC- 58Q620U 58" LED 4K TV.

When you initially plug the TV into the 120V outlet, I get the initial standby red LED light. After you press the power button the red LED goes out and no other lights come. There is no backlight flash, nor image on screen. No audio with HDMI source plugged in, nor does my laptop detect another monitor plugged in. T-con board makes a clicking sound with or without LVDS cables hookup or off.

My first thought was that it had a faulty PSU. Reading voltages, I was getting a swinging voltages from the DC output from the...

Samsung UE48H6410 replaced Mainboard but backlights doesnt go on
            by max789
Hello, I have a problem with my Samsung UE48H6410SSXZG with the main board BN41-02156A and the power board BN44-00709A. Everything seemed like this, the TV could no longer be switched on, the standby LED always flashed 5x2 times. Backlight was off and no sound from TV. Also made the flashlight test and there was no picture.

            I made the following tests:
            1. Disconnected the main board from Power Board = backlight works.
            2. Connected the main board and disconnected the T-Con = backlights does not work.

So I ordered a main board from Ebay also BN41-02156A but from...

            VIZIO M557-G0: Backlights or ???
            by bpcannan
            'Morning,
I get sound and picture when powering on the TV and its stays that EXCEPT that the left half of the screen will dim every few seconds then return to normal while the right side of the screen performs as designed.

Did the soft and hard reset options pulling the plug, using the reet option in the vizio menu to no avail.

I checked the mainboard - found some popped capacitors so replaced it - but that did not change the situation.

I checked the t-con board. It is getting good power. Then I removed one ribbon cable to see if I could isolate...
