I'd prefer to call it an educated guess. Wouldn't have had a clue without the technical manual posted by dskall.

Not too sure what damage may be caused by jumping the pins.
        LED Driver basics:-
A constant DC voltage from a DC-DC converter booster supply is fed at one end and a pulse-width-modulated, PWM pulse is fed at the other. The instantaneous difference between the two inputs determines the brightness of the LEDs. The PWM pulse is generated by the backlight dimming control (E-PWM) which itself is controlled by the video processing section via an I2C bus. By changing the width of the pulse the general brightness of the image can be varied.

Your TV does not have 8-zone drive setup so it uses only two PWM signals.
          PWM1 (A) for 4 sets of LED 1~4
PWM 2 (B) for another 4 sets of LED 5~8
So the board that you bought does not have that that is why you had to jump the PWM signal to drive all 8 sets of LEDs, nothing to do with "The instantaneous difference between the two inputs determines the brightness of the LEDs"
Some model of these TV with back lit can do up to 8 Zones individual Dimming so they can claim phony high contrast ratio spec, your TV uses Edge lit.
BTW, Video Brightness control is not the same as Backlights level control.

As I said earlier, this is the same board as the one that came out of the tv. Only difference was the 14 pin connection on new board vs 16 pin connection on the old board. The new board with 14 pin connector did have empty slots for pins 15 and 16. I could've just swapped the connectors, but don't trust my solder skills enough. The jumper was a much easier fix for someone with my skill set.

The screenshot below from PDF you posted even lists both the TC-55CS560C and TC-55CS540C. I could be wrong here, but everything looks identical to me.

I'm sorry for the lack of proper technical terms. I usually stick to repairing tv's with bad caps, so I'm out of my element here.

That's how we learn by getting out of our comfort zone.
I assume no responsibility for any stupid suggestions I might post.

Panasonic TC-P55ST50 8 blinks then no blinks
                by Andre Gilbert
Hello! yes I know there is already lots of information about this issue. I have a Panasonic TC-P55ST50 that originally displayed an 8-blink error code. Following the troubleshooting flowchart, I ended up replacing the SS board. However, even after replacing it, the issue persists. The TV turns on and stays on without displaying an image, and continuity is confirmed on all connectors. What am I missing here🤔?
Ok Im a mechanical engineer ...but I thought I was able to follow a rather simple flowchart for electric troubleshooting 😂.

Zombie Samsung UN55NU6900F dead / no standby voltage - randomly came to life after hours of troubleshooting then died
                by tvguy12012012120
This is my first attempt at troubleshooting a board like this, I know I could just buy a new board but I'm curious to figure out how this works. I've been testing different components in the evenings this week and I think the problem is with the IC failing to start up for some reason. When the board is plugged in there is no standby voltage.

Then today it randomly sprung to life like a zombie but shortly died thereafter. I have no idea why it would have done that and its the first time I've seen it running. I discharged capacitors on the board last night, then it was sitting today....

Greetings to all, a while ago my TV was dead, it didn't turn on and the standby light was off, the next day it is working. But these days it no longer wants to turn on, I did some troubleshooting, I disconnected the main board, I checked the voltage on the backlight and there is 400 DC, when I connect it again the main board the voltage drops, in all that troubleshooting, miraculously the standby light comes on and the TV works. After an hour I check and test, I turn on the TV, the Stanby light flashes 3 times and it...

Vizio D50u-D1 Dead Set No Standby
                by fharris1977
Hi. I got a Vizio with no power or standby, and won't turn on with remote or button. I checked the voltages on the connector and all read 0.00V or nearly 0(0.050 ON/OFF pin). None of the pins are labeled STB for standby although I do see some 5V pins. Other than the obvious standby led, which isn't coming on, is there a way to check for standby voltage on this PS. I'm trying to see if my problem is the PS or mainboard. Some Vizios I have fixed with no standby led me to think it was the PS but it turned out being the mainboard. Any experience with this set would be greatly appreciated.

Panasonic P58V11B 8 and 12 blinks error "fix"
                by Biruslapio
Bought this TV used not working, panel flashed briefly on power up and it was blinking 8 times, a quick look on SS board revealed a common fault on the 3uF 250V capacitors, C201 to C205 (C1620X in the service manual), the solder joints were all cracked, C201 and C205 pins were darkened and some sparking had occurred on them, C201 was split open and clearly overheated in its last hours, replaced that one and resoldered the others, 8 blinks fixed.

Also the previous owner broke the antenna connector by taking the TV out of the wall mount forgetting to unplug it, I desoldered the tuner...
