    Panasonic Plasma panel type gd14 and gd15 interchangeable?

    I have a TH-p42U30 and Th-p42xt50d (3D tv) plasma Panasonic TV. Their panel type are GD 14 and GD 15. Can I replace the broken panel in th-p42xt50d with a working panel of TH-p42u30. Both the displays have a resolution of 1024x768.
    Are panel types GD 14 and GD 15 interchangeable?. Has anyone done it before?.

      U30 is FHD XT is 720 so it wont work there is more sus lines on the U30 SN board.

          Regardless, there are generally too many variations in the panel drive and gas pressures so you could not take an X30B panel and put it in an X50B or vice versa.

              In the technical manual of respective TV models ...

              Panasonic panel for th-p42u30d is mentioned as D14 progressive plasma panel with 1024x768 native resolution.

              The panel for th-p42xt50d is mentioned as D15 progressive plasma panel with 1024x768 native resolution.

              XT50D is a 3D TV while U30D is a 2D TV.


              Am I missing something?

                      Are 2d and 3D plasma panels different?. When the technical specs of these individual display panels are similar?. Resolution and 600hz drive and gradation level. They are same. What else I might consider from the technical point of view before concluding that G15 and G14 Panasonic panels are different. Any technical spec that is different between these display panels?.

                          I recently found myself the proud owner of a later-model Samsung plasma (the PN59D7000 for those keeping score at home) whose panel was, unfortunately, damaged in transport. I'm now preparing to part it out, but am curious as to whether or not any damage would have come to any of the components by attempting to power it up with the panel being broken. I read in one Avsforum thread (for whatever that's worth 😂) that the "scan driver boards" (by which I assume he means buffer boards) could be impacted by doing so. Is that actually the case? If so, since I don't intend on selling bad...

                          Hi,
                          anyone able to provide the service manual for old plasma Panasonic TX-P42ST50E?
                          It turns off almost immediately (0~5 seconds after pressing the on/off button) and starts flashing the red diode 6 times.
                          I disconnected the left-hand side board (SC?, both the ribbon cable and the power cable to it) and also another ribbon going to bottom left board. Then the led signal is 8 flashes. According to service guide to another Panasonic plasma it would mean the left-hand side board is faulty. But I'm not sure it 100% applies to my model.
                          I checked that board for any obvious faults...

                          Hey guys, I have a Panasonic plasma here with two black rectangles in the display. As you can see from the picture, they affect the menus as well. Both black rectangles extend to exactly the center of the screen.

                          I started with the bottom right black bar as it was closest to me on the desk. I found that the two 6.8 ohm resistors pictured were open circuit. I removed them to verify and they were blown. According to the schematic, these are for the 75V VDA rail.

                          I then did a diode mode test on the load side of the resistor and sure enough there was a short. I disconnected...

                          Hello,

                          Stopped by this site trying to fix my parents Panasonic Plasma TV.

                          Model number is TH-50PZ85U

                          Power comes on and the red power light stays on solid.

                          Did a few checks like hold the power button on for 60 seconds, hold the - Volume while holding the menu button, no luck, still@ blank grey screen as the screen lights up very vague.

                          I also hear a few clicks.

                          I also think my parents said there was a thunderstorm and the TV failed after that.

                          Section 6 in the service manual talks about power and no screen,...
