    Parallel multiple secondary diodes - why ?

    Dear Experts
    I have seen that many SMPS circuits have parallel connected ( yes, physically different but parallel on the board)schottky diodes. There must be a reason for the same. I tried to search on google but could not get a technical explanation. Could you please help with the theory or some link to a document that describes the same ? I have a feeling that its got to do with something from snubber perspective and not just increasing current capacity

      They share the current flow. If one diode was rated for 1 amp then paralleling 2 diodes allows for 2 amps to flow. 1 amp per diode.
      The only problem with this is that if they are run close to their maximum current rating, failure often results after a while.
      Willing to help but I'm no expert.

          Going forward, I will address all as members and avoid using the word experts

          The circuit I am dealing with has 4 in parallel. Interestingly there is no RC snubber or any free wheeling diode at the secondary side. I am still struggling to see why its not affecting the primary side ( blow the mosfet) without the same

              It's also to lower voltage drop on each diode and may also be for heat dissipation...

              For example, the diode may have 0.35v drop at 1A but only 0.15v at 0.25A ... so put 4 in parallel to get only 0.15v drop on them instead of a full 0.35v

              0.35v drop x 1A = 0.35w dissipated on a diode ... or you can have 0.15v x 0.25a = 0.0375 w per diode ... or 0.15w dissipated over 4 times the surface, and with 4 times as many leads dissipating heat through the pcb traces as well.

                      Hi. I need help from wiser guys. I am amateur in electronics and can't figure this out by myself.
                      I bought faulty speakers, M-Audio AV40's. Other speaker has all the electronics in it and the other speaker is just passive one powered by the other speaker's amp. Original problem with the speakers was loud buzzing. I figured out that there is something wrong with the capacitors. I went ahead and replaced every electrolytic capacitor on the PCB. The caps are good quality and have the same values as the original ones.

                      What Zener Diodes on a Linear Power Supply

                      Dear members,

                      I have a linear variable power supply with unknown brand name that I used for voltage injection.
                      Then it failed. I discovered that its transistors (Q1 and Q2) are shorted.
                      In addition, I discovered that its zener diodes are defective.
                      I can replace the burned transistors.
                      But I do not know the model of the zener diodes. the model number is not marked on the zener diodes.
                      Therefore, I cannot replace the zener diodes.
                      I do not want to test the zener diodes in a test circuit to discover their model or value.
                      no schematics are available...

                      I just can't help it when I see a broken / for parts PSU on eBay that's listed for cheap and looks at least somewhat interesting. Well, OK, I won't lie – on the outside, this PSU looks anything but interesting. It's a plain gray box with colorful “spaghetti cables”.




                      What mostly drew me into buying it is its 2x PCI-E power connectors...

                      Hello, I have a SYMSI70 gas heater board, which has issues with its primary side power supply, controlled by TOP247Y chip.
                      When I replace a TOP247Y it explode in 1 second. I have desoldered transformer and measured a winding ratio, so transformer looks like OK.

                      Transformer:
