Samsung UE50F6400 No Standby Repaired

Right got the nice 50" Sammy Led Tv here, the fault being no standby. Sadly the 5vstby Ic has had a meltdown the Ic number on the board is ICS801CS the part number being D2001K originally it had a hole blown in it. Board number is BN44-00624A by Dongyang.

The mains fuse was not blown and all the AC input parts are ok, I also checked all the resistors and diodes both SMD and through-hole around the IC nothing was shorted or open. So I changed the IC and the set works good I also did some solder work on the board as there was a few bad looking joints and I also heatsunk the replacement Ic as it appeared to have gotten quite hot.

Have to upload these one by one as Vbullet attach doesn't like Safari, but Tv is on I also changed the thermal pad with thermal silicon on the CPU and tight ended all ground screws good:

Could i ask if you use lead free solder to touch up suspected dry joints or do you use leaded solder.

I'm sure he, and everybody else, uses leaded solder. It can withstand the expanding and contracting of the parts getting hot when on and cool when off.
The lead-free tree hugger shit dosent do such a good job.

I've ran into this too a few times Reecey. Good job. Did you just change the IC as a gut feeling or did you actually use the O'scope in order to proof it?

Cheers also, I changed the Ic because it had blew up half it was in the bottom case of the Tv lol

Nice to know there is not just me who hates the lead free "hippy" , tree hugger, what ever name , i am not sure if a lead free joint can be touched up with leaded solder , i think mixing them to reflow a joint does not look too good some times. Maybe removing all the lead free stuff from the joint and then adding leaded is best...
