i had this samsung lcd with a shorted panel T500HVN01.3
one side works ok with the other side ribbon removed, the bad side was making the t-con buzz loudly and taking the pic out.
i put the ribbon in but not clamped down, and touched along it to try to find out where the short was.
it turned out just the end few pins are causing the problem. at first i put a piece of paper under the ribbon but then i cut a piece off the ribbon, it needed to be just the right number of pins to make the pic come up. it has some thin horizontal lines across the entire screen but are not visible from viewing distance.
hopefully it will last.
